This large powder horn would have been used by a Yi ethnic minority hunter in the hills of China's Sichuan Province. It was carved and shaped from 2 pieces of wood joined together. The surface was then decorated with traditional patterns using lacquer paint. The attached rings provided an attachment for a shoulder strap (missing) and the access hole has a bamboo stopper.

Framed with rare Suanzi wood, the main bottom board was made of beautiful Inn-mu wood (burl wood). Description: A beautiful Imperial blue-ground porcelain bowl in large size was painted to the exterior with five-clawed dragon motif. In iron-red, the imperial motif of dragons were paired with Phoenix and decorated with patterns of tendrils flowers and weeds. A well painted late 19th Century Chinese Moon Flask decorated with scrolling lotus design and with panels on each side depicting two confronting dragons. There are two 'chilong' dragons on the shoulders. This item was made during the reign of the Guangxu emperor (1875-1908).
