Description: An archaic nephrite jade pendant or Huang was in greenish tint with white patches. By incursions of calcified white dots on the surface, the ancient jade piece was verified as a newly excavated piece. In a decent look and quite good size, this rare piece was carved meticulously on two sides with characteristic grain patterns. From the jade quality, the sleek manual carving lines, and the obvious incursions, we could authenticate the piece was from the dated Han Dynasty for sure...

Cranes cut on the frosted surface rise from ice blue, their necks curling out as handles as they preen. A quintessentially Japanese subject executed with impeccable Japanese craftsmanship. A wooden sign of three golden characters carved into the surface of a solid slab of burled wood enclosed in a frame expertly carved with the four gentlemen, plum, bamboo, iris and chrysanthemum. Made of fine quality of metal material, the bronze censer was in good weight of 208 gram when in a lovely size of 6.1 cm in width and 4.6cm in height. Making use of the core of the wood, the wood circular growth rings were obviously revealed on the belly of the figure and were intriguingly as the grains of the wearing drapery. Done with nice copper material, the stem bowl was decorated with Buddhist eight auspicious emblems on the outer surface from deliberately rendered chasing and carving techniques. Once was being gilt all over the surface and now had been faded to a darken patina, the religious vessel owned a charming atmosphere of the enduring age. Because the Japanese used a minimum of furniture and usually sat on the floor, frequently an arm rest, kyosoku, was used either singly or in pairs. This simple wooden Meiji period arm rest would have been appreciated for both its form and finish. The wood was first burned with hot coals and then scrapped with the result that the softer sections of wood would be carved out more deeply. This process would leave the "wavy" sculptural pattern on the surface of the wood.

Both sides of on this antique printing woodblock are hand carved with 3 pages of text on each side. The text is a poem about the moon. With the upper sections of each page in Chinese characters and the lower text in Mongolian, this is a rare and interesting artifact of the Qing Dynasty reign.
