Measuring 11 3/4" high and 4" across base, this Okimono of a Bijin holds a scroll, which has unfurled to her feet, where a cat plays with it. In rich colors and heavy enamel, the figure is both serene and elegant. Nice detail on the robes and clothing, with gilt details on her hair ornaments and along the edge of the scroll. This is an old Chinese carpentry tool. It was used the same as today's carpenter's "chalk line". The bowl would be filled with powdered charcoal and the string would be pulled through the bowl, and a straight line would be snapped. The string would be rewound by tuning the "crank handle". Older carpenters frequently made their own tool and the carving on this one is very well done, a dragons head floating in a wave pattern. Note the hand made string...very rare...

A root wood carving was intriguingly made to imitate a crane standing on the mountain top in stylized posture.
By two pieces of original root wood, and with minimal cuttings, a beautiful picture with traditional Chinese metaphor of Longevity was then nicely rendered.
The wood piece had yielded the fine patina on the surface in firm and sound condition when one minute old restoration was on the leg.

An elegant men's headgear dating around 1900, consisting of the cone-shaped indoor headdress and the outdoor heungnip or gat. Both are made of horsehair, the gat with a bamboo brim and gauze chin straps. The top part of the hat with a lacquered blossom. Condition: traces of usage, some splits near the bamboo brim. The center pattern features 3 large multi-colored abstract florals against a black background that is surrounded by a blue & white keyfret design frame. The center florals include stylized lingzhi fungus combined in the design. The outer edge features abstract cloud and water patterns. These designs symbolize longevity, fertility and good luck. Description: A decent scholar tray was in quite large size and was kept in very good condition except some old abrasions on the surface. Framed with rare Suanzi wood, the main bottom board was made of beautiful Inn-mu wood (burl wood). The patina was good while regular lines were carved on the reverse side of the bottom board and curves were shaped to the rim. Scholar tray were used to display scholar items and curiosities when the art lover would like to cherish them at hand's reach...

A fine Antique Japanese bronze censer Meiji period artist or makers signed. A incredibly finely detailed casting with dragons and shishi dogs and traditional Japanese design elements. Measuring approx. 21 inches tall in good condition some repairs or re-soldering to the handles and base supports causing some discolorations to the patina. A rectangular silver box rich in high relief of dancers in costume. The detailing of the human forms and the patterning on their costumes is finely done. This antique Chinese necklace has an ornately detailed large Kylin as the central medallion. The medallion is 3.5 inches across and there are are five decorative chains hanging from it. Description: A beautiful Imperial blue-ground porcelain bowl in large size was painted to the exterior with five-clawed dragon motif. In iron-red, the imperial motif of dragons were paired with Phoenix and decorated with patterns of tendrils flowers and weeds. A real imperial porcelain was in quite large size and very unique colour. Date: Qing Dynasty, Guang-xu mark and period (AD1875-1908) Width: 25.5cm Condition: very good except some kiln defects within the foot rim.

A set of Mandarin squares, comprising a front and a back, dating around 1900. Insignia for a court official's wife, with appliqued silver pheasant bird, denoting the fifth rank. Gold and silver metallic threads couched on violetta silk, lined with blue silk. Condition: traces of age, little faded, back badge with short tear (please see photo # 10), lining little stained. Description: A beautiful ivory sachet was carved in open work. With archaic patterns as the ground decoration, swirling dragons were carved vividly on both sides. The sachet can be used as a pendant when the cap was removable and a perfume dipped cotton can be easily put into it. Date: Early 20th Century.

This is an attractive early satsuma Koro or incense burner with very fine workmanship. I believe it may be pre-1900 because it appears to have been made with thicker mercury fired gold. Lid and bottom piece are both marked with a museum inventory number. The lid has been repaired and it looks quite good. The images show where it was broken. It stands about 4 1/2 inches tall and 4 1/2 inches wide. It is signed but I do not recognize the signature.

Description: A strand of rosaries was assembled by 108 pieces of old Zhi-Tan beads. Among them, old coral and elephant bone beads were decorated. Old beads were getting hard to find. All these beads were believed from Tibet, now were ingeniously strung as a decoration item. Date: Late 19th Century.

A well painted late 19th Century Chinese Moon Flask decorated with scrolling lotus design and with panels on each side depicting two confronting dragons. There are two 'chilong' dragons on the shoulders. This item was made during the reign of the Guangxu emperor (1875-1908). Condition - there is a 4cm (1.5 inch) hairline running from the rim and an old chip to the back of one of the chilong dragons. 19.5cm (7.7 inches) high.
