A wonderful ethnographic folk art object, this style of farm animal bell has been used in Thailand for centuries. Hand carved from wood by the herder and tied around the animals neck this traditional bell is hinged (or pegged) in 2 places to allow for a gentle knocking sound. This one was used for a goat and has remnants of the original hand made rope.

Chinese Tang Dynasty Painted Pottery Zodiac Figure (Tiger)

This pottery "zodiac figure" was made during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). It is in the form of a robed official figure, hands held together across the chest, with the head of a tiger. Nuan-Shou, Hand Exercisers were used for palm massage by practicing in one hand. Rolling it to make Qi running through the nerve endings.
The pairs were made from tiger bones.
Enduring old patina was yielded when bone tissues were obviously observed.

It is really fun when practicing them in your hand and hearing the tingling sound.
