One of the best Taxco modernists Enrique Ledesma was successful not only as a jewelry designer but also as a mosaicist and a lapidary. Two of his favorite materials, sterling silver and stone, are combined here in a classic for the maestro design. Minimalist, quite geometric with clean, easy to follow lines, the necklace's only luxury seems to be the saturated, rich green of the chrysocolla (I think!) trapezoids...

Table form Cigar Lighter in Sterling silver. Lighter is shaped like an ornate Aladdin's lamp. The lighter is missing it's wick holder, and has a few minor dings. The piece is hallmarked Edinburgh and has the word STERLING and the number 80. The piece measures 4 inches (10.16 cm) long, 3 inches (7.62 cm) tall and is 1 7/8 inches (4.6 cm) wide. Circa 1923.

This necklace is old and the maker used Mexico City folk art style repousse to produce this masterpiece. Simply stunning on and does not skip a beat with quality and condition. Natural patina in the recesses further pronounce the depth and dimension. The necklace is marked as shown with Made In Mexico Sterling. The center rose is 1.75 inches tall with a wearable length of 16.5inches. The hand carving on the top is masterful. Just look at the beauty in this necklace from LOOK AT THAT NECKLACE!

Description:

A black-glazed water pot was in strong Zen spirit.
By an elegant elm bowl’s shape, the pot was applied on the surface with black slip when bluish white splashes were decorated intriguingly on top across the mouth rim.
Unglazed at the bottom, the foot ring was flat and was revealed with the body clay which was in dark brown tint.

Gorgeous vintage sterling silver hinged bracelet, I believe this to be a late Art Nouveau example if not a nature-inspired piece of the 1940s. Some times it is difficult to say with jewelry that is not signed since styles held on after the "official" end of an era and techniques remained constant as well. This is obviously a hand-made bracelet and it consists of two "wings" replete with scroll and foliate repousse motifs...

A large Tibetan Temple prayer carpet with two dragons, each chasing it's elusive pearl. Size: L. 163 cm. W. 88cm. Condition. No repairs. Very good for it's age.

Hector Aguilar designed these bracelets in the same manor as the belts made famous by Georgia O'Keefe. The material is suede on top and lined underneath. Signage is correct with Hector Aguilar's hallmarks as shown. The length is 7.25in. and is adjustable for additional length. This treasure boasts a 1.5inch height for a strong presence. Rich looking on and is certainly for a grand entrance.

One of my favorite and, in my opinion, most accomplished early Mexico City repousse maestros, Abraham Tobias, signs this bold Deco silver cuff bracelet. Tobias was a contemporary of Matilde Poulat's and quite often his jewelry are based on her designs. He excelled in the so-called Mexico City repousse style and here he is contributing to the tradition of the sought-after "Aztec Rose" cuffs...

Chinese Han Dynasty Glazed Pottery Bowl with Dragon Handle

This rare and unusual pottery vessel was made during the Han Dynasty (206 BC - AD 220). It is made from a buff-coloured pottery, relatively highly-fired, having a distinct ring to it when tapped. The outer surface of the bowl is decorated with a surrounding groove below the rim, but its most interesting feature is its handle in the form of the head of a dragon...

This lovely 19th century piece came from a Dutch private collection where it has been since the 1980's. It is 55 cm high and at the base it measures 25x25 cm. It has normal age wear and a wonderful old patina.

American figural cow weathervane, probably Cushing and White, Waltham, Massachusetts. Circa 1880-1890. Size: 26.5 inches length x 16 inches height. A full copper body and cast zinc head of classic form with wonderfully delineated lines. Gilt over original gilt surface, with some verdigris. Overall excellent condition; no restoration to the body. Cushing and White made these models with or without udders. Provenance: private collection, Chatham, New York.

A fun and sensual sterling necklace and bracelet by Margot De Taxco. It is sturdy and delicate at the same time. The silver dangles make a charming sound and dazzle the eye with movement.
