Continental singing bird-in-cage automaton. Circa. 1900. Probably French or Swiss. Bird fashioned from real feathers, with glass eyes, and on a brass perch. Key-wind mechanism inside base of cage causes bird to sing various bird songs, while moving beak and turning head. Some loss to bird’s feathers. Musical movement is operational but sometimes hesitates, requiring a slight titling action to restore it, so probably requires some adjustment. Size: 12.5” ht.

Rare Gorham Arts & Crafts sterling silver sauce gravy ladle in a hammered surface and with mixed metals design on the handle of two cherries, leaf and twig in bronze, and with a second leaf in gilded silver. Circa 1885. Excellent condition. Marks: stamped with the Gorham logo (lion, anchor, G) "sterling & other metals", and with the name of the retailer George H. Ford. Size: 6" length.

Description:
An elegant brush pot was made from the precious Huanghuali wood.
Being preserved with charming brownish patina on the surface, the brush pot was carved totally from a wood trunk, including to the bottom.,
The characteristic signs of ox-hair wood grains and ghost–eye marks were obvious.
By well proportioned shape, it was decorated on the rims and the supported feet with lineated ridges.

An unusual majolica pottery basket with a molded woven wicker design to the exterior, Greek key variant border, and ribbon wrapped bamboo form handle. The pink interior with some crazing to the glaze. Unmarked. Condition: Excellent with no chips, cracks, or repairs; only some crazing to the glaze. Size: 10 inches long x 5.75 inches deep x 7 inches high.

Scottish three-piece sterling silver tea service, Edinburgh. 1824-25. Maker's mark CB, for Charles Bendy, known for his decanter labels, ladles and tea pots. Weight: 49.8 troy ounces. A rare set of compressed globular form resting on round, stepped pedestal bases. The gadrooned bodies are accented with decorative acanthus rims and handles, and the open sugar bowl and milk jug retain an original gilt wash to their interiors. No monograms or erasures. No dents or dings...

Rare heavy sculptural sterling silver belt buckle designed and signed (c.1946)by modernist Ed Wiener.(1918-91) Measures 2 1/2" across the top and 1 1/2" down. Back loop will fit up to 1 1/8 inch strap. Raised abstract design. 34grams. Beautiful vintage condition with no dents or dings. Wiener opened his first shop in New York City in 1946. Featured in MESSENGERS OF MODERNISM where it's said of Wiener, "As a jeweler he was an interpreter of the major trends in modern art".

This antique Japanese tea caddy is called a "Cha-ire" and dates from the late Edo period. It was used for storing thick tea which is called "Koicha". The more common tea caddy form or "natsume" was used for powdered or thin tea. The chai-ire forms vary somewhat and were most typically made from clay.

Both the octagonal shape and lacquer finish make this chaire very rare. It is also lovely...

A vintage c1930s apple juice celluloid or bakelite brooch with rhinestones. This 3-1/8 x 1-3/4" pin has a c-clasp, white stones and a central red rhinestone (replaced) inserted onto a gold-coloured layer; this lays on top of a white layer, which is on top of the transluscent apple juice bottom layer of the pin. This item is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, losses, damage or repairs...

Description: A full scale(quan-kai) paper painting of ink and colors was from a famous Qing painter Ren Xun(1835-1893).
Well rendered, the figures and scenes were finished by excellent maneuvering of the master painter’s brush strokes.
Defects were observed though, the ancient painting had been well restored and framed by a master Chinese painting restoring expert Lin Mao Long who have done a lot of works for the Palace Museum of Taipei.

"Vermont Village in Winter" by Arthur B. Wilder (American, 1857-1949), oil on artist board, signed & dated lower left 1947, titled on reverse. Size: 20" x 24". Excellent condition with a fresh bright palette. An eye-catching impressionist winter landscape by Arthur Wilder, painted late in his life, probably of the hills surrounding Woodstock, Vermont. Wilder is best known for his winter views. During Calvin Coolidge's presidency, a winter scene by Wilder hung in the White House.
