Striking handmade sterling silver necklace and detachable pin designed and signed (c. 1940's) by Taxco, Mexico artist Los Castillo. The center section measures 3" long x 3" wide. The detachable chains give the necklace a wearable length of 16 1/2". Excellent vintage condition with no dents or dings. The clasp, necklace chains and pin back all work perfectly.

Very dramatic deeply concave oval shaped African shield from Ethiopia. The animal hide is scraped free of hair and then placed over a shaped board with protrusions which will allow for greater protection in warding off blows. The edge is tightly rolled and there are added tool marks for heightened decoration. The handle is tied and knotted into place at a slight angle to allow for a more comfortable hold.

Shield is 21 inches at the widest point and about 6 inches deep...

This is a superb sterling and Lone Mountain turquoise ring by Santo Domingo Pueblo artist Julian Lovato. He began working in 1938 and was a silversmith for Frank Patania Sr.in the Thunderbird Shop. He has won several awards for his outstanding creations. This ring is a size 13 ,weighs 28 grams and is in fine original condition. The magnificent stone alone measures 7/8" long and 5/8" wide. Signed as shown. This is a museum quality piece.

Description: A boxwood ruler was preserved very well when edges were smoothened off due to long time of use. What interestingly found were picturesque motifs like plum flowers and magpies were carved on both surfaces along with the regular counting marks. Date: Qing Dynasty(late 19th century.) Hand crafted sterling silver cascabell pin designed and signed (c.1940's)by Taxco, Mexico artist Valentin Vidaurreta (1902-1955). Measures 3 1/2" X 2". Comprised of 19 cascabells on five sterling stems and tied with a sterling silver bow. Valentin was the primary designer for Hector Aguilar and the Taller Borda and was considered one of the best Taxco silver designers of the period. His art leaned toward fauna and foilage and this can be seen in his sterling silver designs...
