Striking handmade sterling silver necklace and detachable pin designed and signed (c. 1940's) by Taxco, Mexico artist Los Castillo. The center section measures 3" long x 3" wide. The detachable chains give the necklace a wearable length of 16 1/2". Excellent vintage condition with no dents or dings. The clasp, necklace chains and pin back all work perfectly.

Very dramatic deeply concave oval shaped African shield from Ethiopia. The animal hide is scraped free of hair and then placed over a shaped board with protrusions which will allow for greater protection in warding off blows. The edge is tightly rolled and there are added tool marks for heightened decoration. The handle is tied and knotted into place at a slight angle to allow for a more comfortable hold.

Shield is 21 inches at the widest point and about 6 inches deep...

A Yuan dynasty blue and white big jar, rounded side with straight neck and globular body, jar decorated with under glaze blue of continuous flower motif and classic scroll on exterior, jar is newly excavated from east Java.
Jar is in good condition with damage part at the body re-attach mainly no missing part only small chip missing at the rim, good blue imported cobalt color.
Size: 10.5 cm height.

A Ming dynasty Jiajing period blue and white bowl, rounded side with mantao shape and glazed base, bowl decorated with under glaze blue of human and scenery motif at exterior, inner center with human motif, the motif possibly from Three Kingdoms epic story. the human with fan in the back possibly Zhuge Liang an counselor from Shu state, base with square mark.
Bowl is is in very good condition no chip no crack no restoration>,br> Size: 12.5 cm diameter.

 

A Yuan dynasty Shufu luanbai white glaze, rounded side with lobbed rim and unglazed base, bowl decorated with two dragon motif chasing flaming pearl on interior, covered with Shufu luanbai white glaze.
Bowl is in good condition with a small chip and three hairline on the rim, no restoration.
Size: 17 cm diameter.

A good Tang Changsha bowl with lotus motif, rounded side with deep center and unglazed base, bowl decorated with under glaze green and brown of Buddhist symbol "lotus" motif, covered with creamy white glaze.
Bowl is in good condition with good glaze, very minor glaze degradation on the rim, no chip, no crack, no restoration / no color added.
Size: 16 cm diameter.

This is a superb sterling and Lone Mountain turquoise ring by Santo Domingo Pueblo artist Julian Lovato. He began working in 1938 and was a silversmith for Frank Patania Sr.in the Thunderbird Shop. He has won several awards for his outstanding creations. This ring is a size 13 ,weighs 28 grams and is in fine original condition. The magnificent stone alone measures 7/8" long and 5/8" wide. Signed as shown. This is a museum quality piece.

Description: A boxwood ruler was preserved very well when edges were smoothened off due to long time of use. What interestingly found were picturesque motifs like plum flowers and magpies were carved on both surfaces along with the regular counting marks. Date: Qing Dynasty(late 19th century.) Length: 34.9cm. A FITTED SILK BOX IS INCLUDED.

Sterling silver parrot head money clip designed and signed by Taxco, Mexico artist William Spratling (c.1940). Clip measures 2 1/4" tall. Spratling often found inspiration among the birds and animals that roamed his Taxco ranch. This clip is pictured on the informative website www.spratlingsilver.com.

Oriental tea pot made of tinned copper with finely chased design of vegetal pattern. The stylized dragon handle riveted to the drop shaped body, holding the domed and pierced lid with a small ball in it. Similar ewers in the Henri Moser Charlottenfels Collection. Condition: fine, few tiny dents. Dimension: 31.5 cm high, weight: 718 g.

William III/ Queen Anne Britannia silver dognose spoon, London, marked only with maker's mark of Francis Archbold. Circa 1700. Rare early spoon showing the transition of styles from the trefid to dognose. The dognose form is so called because of the shape of the end of the handle, also sometimes referred to as 'wavy end.' This example retains the broad, shallow bowl and ribbed rat tail of the earlier trefid form but without the characteristic notches in the terminal of the trefid...

Description: A porcelain snuff bottle was beautifully painted on the surface with insect of grasshopper in the weeds. On the other side, a well-rhythmed poem was finely written to depict the picture. It was in perfect condition with original dipper on top. An inscription mark Qian-Long-Nien-Zi was at the bottom. Date: Qing Dynasty(19th century). Height: 7.9cm.

A sensuous snake coils over its own tail to form this beautifully executed bracelet. Dating from the 1960's, the 14Kt yellow gold snake bangle has bezel set ruby eyes and a snakeskin design that covers not only the top of the bracelet but the entire outside surface and back. The width of the bracelet at the widest part is 5/8”.

Hand crafted sterling silver cascabell pin designed and signed (c.1940's)by Taxco, Mexico artist Valentin Vidaurreta (1902-1955). Measures 3 1/2" X 2". Comprised of 19 cascabells on five sterling stems and tied with a sterling silver bow. Valentin was the primary designer for Hector Aguilar and the Taller Borda and was considered one of the best Taxco silver designers of the period. His art leaned toward fauna and foilage and this can be seen in his sterling silver designs...

Large hand crafted 3 dimensional pin designed and signed by Taxco, Mexico artist Antonio Pineda. Measures 3 3/4 inches long. Beautiful condition. No dents or dings. This design was featured in the recent museum exhibit WILLIAM SPRATLING AND THE MEXICAN SILVER RENISSANCE and pictured on page 137 of the catalogue by the same name.
