Early, stunning and in excellent vintage condition, an all-silver repousse Matilde Poulat necklace featuring her favorite dove and rose motifs. I can hardly exaggerate the caliber of the craftsmanship and the attention to every minute detail in the execution of the design. This is indeed a true masterpiece dating in the beginnings of Matl's career and we all know how difficult it is to find such an old piece by her any more...

A truly magnificent sterling and turquoise cuff by award winning Santo Domingo silversmith Julian Lovato who at one time worked as a smith in Frank Patania Sr.'s Thunderbird Shop. The large and spectacular turquoise stone is most likely Kingman. The cuff measures 6" around in the inside plus a 1 1/8" opening. It is 1 5/8" wide in the front and narrows to 1 1/4" at the terminals. The stone alone measures 1 3/4" by 1 1/8". The bracelet is in fine original condition...

An exceptional and very rare to find early Taxco repousse bracelet, I am used to similar pieces - as rarely as they come up - hailing from Mexico City where Matilde Poulat also developed her style. Yet this one is clearly marked "Taxco" and though its design and the techniques used remind me of similar work done by P.Ochoa, the bracelet at hand is not signed for maker...

Born in Oaxaca but living and working in the American Southwest Federico Jimenez creates jewelry in silver combining his Mexican heritage with Native American influences. I would suggest that the monumental arm band bracelet presented here is as much a piece of jewelry as an artifact in and of itself...

A rarely surfacing example of Margot de Taxco's distinctive brooches in which she combined silver with faceted gems and carved ivory figurines the piece presented here is true museum quality and a must-have for the serious Margot collector. To me it looks more like a work of art, something that you would proudly display among your most precious antiques, than merely a piece of jewelry...

Gerardo Lopez belongs, in my humble opinion, among the very best repoussage maestros of early Taxco - his work is absolutely phenomenal, deeply chased and elaborate and just a pleasure to have and behold. The clamper bracelet at hand aptly illustrates his talent and craftsmanship; wrought in 980 silver, it has a distinctly Nouveau air to it with its undulating, twisting and turning scrolls and floral motifs...

A rather difficult to find William Spratling necklace, this "disks and bead" design is playful, with a light-heartedness that makes you want to focus on life's good aspects and enjoy it as much as you can! This is a necklace that points to the organic relationship Spratling had formed with Mexico's rich folk culture and the creative ways he used traditional motifs in his work...

A talented silversmith and good designer, Alfredo Villasana is known not only for his original pieces (which I truly appreciate for their imaginative design and perfect finishing) but for his high quality emulations of pieces that were first issued by the big talleres, usually of the Los Castillo and Margot de Taxco ones. I am not sure whether the fabulous pectoral I am presenting here comes up with either the Los Castillo or Margot signatures in the specific configuration of elements yet the...

An early Los Castillo creation as indicated by the low design number, this is also a classic for the taller - repousse swirls accented by beads and riveted together to imitate the waves in a distant sea. The links' depressed areas are beautifully oxidized to intensify the design's depth and by construction the bracelet offers maximum comfort to its wearer. It measures 7 1/4" long (wearable) by 5/8" wide (at its widest) and weighs 39.9 grams. Signed with the taller's name as well as des. no 392,...

Early 20th c. Chinese silver and carved jade bracelet, this is a classic export piece wit its floral enamels having an almost Art Nouveau air about them. Executed in black, cobalt blue and iron red the florals look like irises to me and they are definitely an unusual motif when it comes to vintage Chinese pieces of the same period. The jadeite plaque that adorns the central link is held in position with prongs. Carved and pierced with fruit and leaf motifs it has wonderful color variations and n...

Rare and magnificent silver and natural turquoise hair clip by New York Modernist Art Smith(1917-1982). An African American, he took his inspiration from African tribal art and costume to create "sculpture to wear". Most of his work is in brass and copper. It is not often that he worked in silver and even more rare to find stones and silver. The central piece of the hair clip measures 2 3/8" long and 2 1/2" wide at the top, narrowing to 1 1/2" at the very bottom. The stones are bezel set natura...
