From Yunnan Province, this minority hand woven open container has wonderful age and patina. The wife said it was used at family dinners for pouring wine, the husband said used for pouring tea. I just smiled and nodded in agreement. The piece was obviously woven tight enough to contain liquid. There is a small piece of bamboo inserted into the basket spout which aids in controlling the flow. Condition is very good and the piece measures 8" x 5" high.

Fabulous pale green genuine apple jade beaded necklace with a white gold filigree clasp with a lovely genuine opal cabochon. Circa 1930. The clasp is marked 14K. The jade beads are a nice size at 9 millimeters wide. Handknotted with matching pale green thread; the stringing appears to be original and is secure. The beads have beautiful darker green variegated markings.

This is a museum quality and large amber glazed pouch ewer from the Liao Dynasty (907-1125). Tall and handsome, it stands on a flat splay foot rising upwards to a bulging side body with a long vertical spout with foliated mouth rim and a rounded handle instead of the pinch handle. The whole pouch ewer is coated with dark amber glaze on a white colour slip stopping short of the splay foot rim showing the red colour stoneware. The stoneware pouch ewer simulates a leather form of the pouch.

This Japanese Fireman Hanten is made of hand-loomed Sashiko weave cotton fabric. This was the fabric of choice for the firefighting jackets because they could and would be drenched with water to keep the fireman safe from the flames while fighting fires. This piece is hand sewn and has clearly been heavily used. It has several holes and patches. When I got it years ago, it smelled badly of wood smoke...I did wash it to get rid of the smell.

This elegant pair of 18Kt yellow gold leaf shaped earrings are accented by prong set rubies in the center. The hallmarks are 18Kt and Italy as well as a makers mark that looks like a stylized "H".
