This is a really nice straight forward hand sewn flannel doll, with a very nice embroidered face. Her body is stuffed and I mean stuffed with rags and she is really solid. She bends at her ankles and that is it. I tend to think that she is from Pennsylvania because of the type of flannel she is made with. It makes me think of the Amish flannel toy dogs. The construction and the hand sewing on this doll is amazing. The hands and feet have stitch defined fingers and toes. The features are drawn with watercolor paint. A man and woman black cloth dolls with composition heads. They were not made by the same person but they were sold to me as a pair and they are great together. She is 24" and very heavy. He is 27 " and is tall and lean with cool clothes. I think they are both from the 1930's. Both have early and probably have original outfits also the sun fading on the woman skirt looks like she had a different apron. They are in very good condition. A terrific pair of black dolls.
This doll has attitude and I can see some little scrub kneed kid with this doll under his arm, thinking he can conquer the world. I would like to meet the woman that made this one!

This is a large Gertrude Rollinson in really good condition with wonderful clothes. She probably has been repainted at some point. She has on a long white cotton dress with a slip that is the same length as the dress, well below her feet. She has on white socks and white shoes and a crocheted bonnet. This is a very nice pen wipe black doll made with a wishbone. She has layers of flannel skirts with wish bone legs wrapped with black cloth. She is 3" tall with an embroidered face and knotted black yarn hair. On the front of her she has a sticker that reads, Wipe your pen on me. She is in excellent condition, no one ever used her, 3" tall and circa 1880.
