An Art Nouveau sterling fronted sash brooch. This 3 x 2" brooch dates to around 1900. This pin is stamped STERLING TOP, it has the original c-clasp, and it weighs 14.1 grams. It is in excellent condition with no major dents, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than two shallow bends visible on the back. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use...

This pretty and detailed pin might depict St. Catherine (patroness of young maidens and female scholars – we like her!). There is a wheel in the background (possibly a “Catherine Wheel,” but it could also just be a ship's wheel or a spinning wheel), and a flower in the foreground. Her clothing looks very Renaissance-era to us. Marked “SILVER” on the C-clasp, with an illegible maker’s mark, the metal tests as sterling, and she’s a dainty 7/8” in diameter. 2.5g...

Here are two charming sterling silver scatter pins formed as ladies’ heads complete with bonnets and flowing hair. They are typical of the highly detailed cast work of Unger Bros., of Newark, NJ, during the Art Nouveau period. Both have secure C-clasps; one looks to have been replaced, perhaps during the 1920s. The fine features are intact and the maker’s mark well struck. Each pin measures 3/4 inch long by 5/8 inch wide. 4.4 grams total

This brooch has a wonderful design. It is circular with a stamped and engraved border and a central star design. Its diameter is 1 1/4". It is hallmarked with the stylized k (for the year 1909), the anchor (for Birmingham) and The Lion Passant (for 925 sterling silver). It also has the hallmark S & Co., representing the silversmith. It is in excellent condition.
