A decorative painting on a fragment of unstretched canvas, a slightly irregular shape, but almost square at 12 3/4" by 12", unsigned, in the famous drip and splatter/splash style of famed Abstract Expressionist Sam Francis (1923-1994). The work is housed temporarily in a protective-only simple black frame. The paint is likely acrylic. The work is a lot less expensive than a real Sam Francis.

A vintage impressionist oil on board painting with modernist touches, unsigned, 20" by 16". The work is probably by a listed artist but alas there is no signature. The almost Cubistic handling of the cloth and rear drape and the foreshortened space are most interesting. The work probably dates to about the 1940's. Unframed, and with some small faults common to older paintings, including light soiling, a few minor losses, edge losses etc.

A late 20th century watercolor painting , 10 1/2" by 14 1/2" inside the mat, 14 1/2" by 18 1/2" in gold framing, the scene three figures in front of a walled house, the figures with loads carried on heads or in traditional pole baskets. There are two red chop marks at lower right. On the reverse is a rubber stamp of Suvida Frame, and Thai lettering. The poetic work is clean and highly decorative. Allow for reflections in a few images.

A contemporary oil on canvas scene featuring a small bridge over a Venice, Italy canal; this may be the famous Ponte delle Tette bridge. The work measures 11 1/2" by 13 1/2" as framed. I do not see a signature. The painting and frame are in excellent condition.

This was once a beautiful late 1950's period example of Italian abstract art, executed by the listed artist, from Venice, Italy, GIOVANNI GIULIANI (1893-1965). Unfortunately due to careless storage by one or many owners (it was exposed to moisture), combined with the artist's choice of materials, it is now a restorer's special, worthy of conservation. I have received a quote of $400 to have it relined so that it can safely travel...

This is a most attractive watercolor on paper painting of a landscape with feathery trees bordering a foreground area, and a wider view beyond, 11 1/2 by 14 1/2" in modern inexpensive protective-only framing, unsigned. Found in New England, it reminds of California eucalyptus school work. The artist would likely be someone listed. The age could be circa 1920's to 1950. The work sorely needs a proper mat and framing...

This is a rather large oil on canvas work, 30" by 39" (43" by 34" as framed), signed at lower right "DeShazo", the subject a landscape with houses, church, and lonely leaning telephone pole. The work is not titled and the artist is not apparently listed...

Old watercolor and gouache painting of pink roses, unsigned, first half of the 20th century, 15 1/2" by 31 1/2" framed. The long and narrow work is very clean and ready for that special wall. Has a very shabby chic feeling.

Large watercolor on textured paper by Yngve Olsen, American Modernist artist (1905-2000), in the stylized and modernist style of both John Marin and Lionel Feininger, has additional watercolor on back, archival matting with heavy glassine over painting. Oil on canvas laid against board painting of historic ancient structures apparently on a coastline, 11 1/2" by 9" (19" by 16" framed), signed at lower left in Hebrew script. There is a second painting on the reverse signed "Hausner" and dated 1979. A reader of Hebrew has confirmed that the signature in that language also reads "Hausner". The scene of buildings is almost expressionistic as opposed to impressionistic. There is a brooding darkness to the sky and a vigor to the brushstrokes...

A small but nicely executed watercolor painting of the dramatic mountains surrounding Mexico's commercial capital, the city of Monterrey in Nuevo Laredo state in the northeastern part of the country. The work is signed in red at lower right "A. Hoeck" and dated there 1909. The artist was a relative of a Santa Monica, California artist who recently passed away, and this was found among her personal effects...

An unframed oil on canvas painting of a colonial Latin American square surrounded by tile-roofed buildings, a snow-capped volcano in the center distance, signed at lower right "Quishpe" and dated there 2009. Online research shows that name to be most commonly found in Ecuador, but the artist is J. COSME QUISHPE of Cuzco, contemporary South American artist educated at the Ecole de Cuzco Contemporaine. The work measures 11 3/4" by 15 1/2"...

A large well executed watercolor by Richard Zoellner, American (1908-2003) of a farm and small village with a church steeple on a bleak winter day. Titled on the back of the watercolor, “Day in January.” Sight size 13 1/2 by 20 inches.

A small watercolor on paper within an oval, featuring a short vase filled with wildflowers, the piece measuring 8" by 7" as framed; at the lower portion in pencil is an inscription in German: "Die Heimat Blumen Grussen Dich", and "Plauen Mai 1920". This translates roughly as "the flowers of home/homeland greet you". "Heimat" evidently is a German word with no clear translation into English...

Another painting: Breaking the 9th - Prequel. At times painting peaceful landscapes may not be enough and the painter must "exorcise" nightmares nocturnal or otherwise with the help of acrylic and brushes to produce a Fauve like non-painterly work...
