A fine watercolor folksy miniature portrait painting. The sitter is a nice looking young gentleman dressed in a black coat, patterned white vest, white shirt with stud, and a black stock tie. Housed in its original red leather travel case.

Excellent condition, with no cracks, bowing, or other problems. The sight size is 2 5/8" by 2".

Circa 1885, original oil painting on a board panel of a stag in snow scene by artist A. Huff. Painting is in excellent antique condition with the colors still being vibrant.

Oil on board, likely Canadian painting of a curling scene on a large ice rink with a large number of spectators and players, painted very competently in a very charming folk-art style, signed at lower right "S. S. Heath" and dated there 1973. The work reminds a bit of the whimsical folky Canadian paintings of Allen Sapp or William Kurelek. Suprisingly, I see absolutely no information or auction record for any artist of this name. The work measures 16" by 20" and 20" by 24" as framed...

This is a beautifully executed work, watercolor and gouache on paper, 14 1/2" by 20 1/2" (21" by 27" as framed), signed at lower right by the noted English artist WILFRED KNOX (1884-1966). Knox is known for his marine art, such as clipper ships, but also for scenes around the British Isles and the luminous Venetian and Mediterranean coastal scenes with shipping and maritime subject matter as seen in this example...

A good maritime oil on canvass painting of a fishing sloop in a turbulent sea. Signed "IR Lowd" at lower right. The stretcher is pencil signed "Fishermen in a Winter Sea/Winter Rig/Flat Roof". The canvas is an older, probably original giltwood frame. Found in Maine.

A very interesting and unusual painting, appearing to be gouache on a prepared gessoed panel (and the piece is accordingly quite heavy for its size), featuring Native American indian dancers and onlookers in the Southwest, likely Navajos of New Mexico or northeastern Arizona. The 22 1/2" by 27" unframed work is signed at lower right "Arline Wyrick". A quick google search did not reveal any obvious links to a known artist, but she was obviously quite skilled, and this bears further research...

Vintage oil on canvas impressionist landscape with rounded low mountains, a country road passing red barns, 25" by 30" (29 1/2" by 34 1/2" framed), signed at lower right corner with what appears as "D Tutis" or "D Totis" or similar. Although the work resembles that of Vermont painter Earl A. Titus (1895-1962), the signature does not correspond with how he signed. So we have a mystery work here...

Sold together as a pair, unframed oil on masonite board paintings of trees in landscapes, the larger piece 30" by 40", the smaller one 24" by 35 1/2", both by the noted Santa Barbara/Ventura area California artist DOUGLAS SHIVELY (1896-1991). Shively was born in Santa Paula among the citrus and avocado groves, and he chose to continue to live in that scenic area his entire life, despite many overseas voyages...

Oil on canvas, 14" by 18", (18 1/2" by 22 1/2" in old possibly original frame), the subject given on original Sanborn Studio, Belfast, Maine label as "Bend in Little River" (faint, but still readable with some effort). The work is not signed but is surely by the important Maine artist PERCY A. SANBORN (1849-1929). Sanborn was born in Waldo, Maine and lived for many years in coastal Belfast...

Rare and Sublime Painted Porcelain Vase by Korean Buddhist Monk Su An Sunim (born 1940) depicting children. It has a warm, creamy slip-painted surface. This is the only ceramic art by Su An Sunim we have ever seen offered for sale. Circa 1930's or 1940's oil on canvasboard painting of a cognac bottle on a table top, an apple, lemon and orange completing the composition, signed at lower right "Henri Martin". The work besides an impressionist almost Pointillist hand, possesses a certain modernity particularly in the handling of the background. The painting would brighten dramatically with a cleaning to remove the old varnish and soiling. Measurements are 20" by 16" and 31" by 26 1/2" in the heavy, classic, dark oak frame...

Oil on canvas laid on board portrait painting of a young girl in a fine blue dress with lacy edge, circa 1875 (possibly, earlier?), apparently unsigned, I feel likely American or perhaps French origin; hard to say. The antique work, 40" by 19 1/2" (45" by 25 1/2" framed) has a folky ambience to it, in the American east coast tradition, but I suppose we should not eliminate its being of European origin...

Large oil on high quality canvas painting, 38" by 48", not signed on front but on reverse on stretcher is written "B Ingram", probably executed in the 1960's or early 1970's. The artist clearly had a knowledge of the surrealist works of the important Chilean modern artist Roberto Echaurren Matta, whose major oils greatly resemble the image in this painting...
