For the fans of the "Big Eye" paintings, here is a pair of mid century retro style works in oil on board, each 23 1/2" by 11 1/4", and each signed at lower right. The signatures are hard to decipher; I'm guessing "Balmiani" or "Dalmiani". If I am reading them at all correctly, I am not able to tie these names to any of the listed, recognized big eye painters. Regardless of authorship, these are sure to please the devoted big eye collector...

This is an OIL PAINTING by ZANDOR. Two Ballerinas apppear getting ready to perform. Approx. 2.5' X 3.5' this PAINTING was originally purchased from a BAL HARBOR, Fla. gallery in the early '70's. Oil on canvas painting, 18 1/2" by 24 1/2" including the thin red wood frame, circa 1960's or 1970's, signed on the stretcher "John J. Molino". I don't see a listing for the name so offer the painting as a decorative mid century item. It is quite a colorful and dramatic work and will beautifully complement your Eames Era modern decor. I think there's a little bit of Stuart Davis color and imagery in this. Note how the paint is raised in the hard-edge striping. The painting is a little dusty...

A large oil mixed with sand painting on canvas, signed on reverse by artist "Durrant", titled there "Rombosity" and dated there 1965. This is an unusually large work by the noted English modernist artist ROY TURNER DURRANT (1925-1998), works of whom sell with some regularity in the United Kingdom. Paint is very thickly applied and is wrinkled in some areas. The work measures an impressive 46" by 33 1/4"...

This is a most unusual and appealing pop art painting (unframed, 27" by 35") by a mid-coast California artist, Tom Shultz (1943-2017). Works by the artist, who passed away in his mid seventies, have been exhibited at a number of galleries, particularly in the Paso Robles area of central California. The piece is entirely hand painted (not silkscreened, which I at first thought a possibility) on a spongy, soft pulpboard, which the artist has also painted on the reverse (an abstract)...

Oil on canvasboard, 12" by 16" (17" by 21" as framed), signed at lower right by artist CURT PAULSON. I do not see a listing but the artist had a skilled hand. The style reminds a bit of California desert painters William Darling or Fred Chisnall. There is impasto, vigorous brush stroke, and a grayish blue light over the scene. Apparently original whitish antiqued frame completes this ready for the wall package. Condition is excellent.

Mr Chase was a Chicago area painter who was known as a landscape painter of the city of Chicago. He later traveled and painted with other artist known as California Impressionist. Measuring 8” x 10” this work is done in oil on panel and framed in a beautiful gold leaf baroque frame measuring 18.5”x 20”

A work of Surrealism, 22" by 26", unframed, the imagery a strange landscape in blues, two bare trees at right center, and an odd shaped biomorphically-inspired form (part looks like an index finger complete with nail) at left foreground, completing the strange composition. The painting is signed at lower right by the artist; the first name is Bruce and the last name is difficult to make out, perhaps Hailey, Harley, Hurley or similar...

Sometimes called the Mayor of Tyson Street, Edward "Eddie" Rosenfeld (1906-1983) was a Baltimore based artist, whose works are owned by the JMM, Baltimore Museum of Art, Phillips Collection and American University Gallery (both in Washington, DC). His artistic style has been classified as "expressionistic" and "alive with gutsy realism." Mr. Rosenfeld was called "The Mayor of Tyson Street" because he began the regentrification process in Mt. Vernon in 1945...

This is a beautiful work by a well listed painter who was born in Russia and spent much time in the Pittsburgh area, as well as New York, before settling in Southern California later in life. Shulgold's biography tells of stints as a watchmaker and worker in a bottling plant, before yielding to the desire to create art...

Oil on canvasboard panel painting of a scene in the French Quarter of New Orleans, 19" by 8" (24 1/4" by 12 1/2" framed), signed at lower right with what appears as "Dettick" or "Derrick". This work was likely created for the lively tourist scene in the French Quarter in the 1960's or early 1970's. It has been suggested that the artist is one "Dick Nick", who has been an active participant in the New Orleans Jackson Square art scene from the 1960's. Condition is excellent.

I believe the work is likely by a listed artist but I cannot come up with any listing from the name, at least as I am reading it. Perhaps more research might identify the artist.
