An American impressionist coastal seascape painting on the rough side of a Masonite panel, 12" by 16" (19" by 22 1/2" in quality gold frame), signed at lower right by artist Erna Gruenbaum. Oddly, considering the quality, there is no listing of an artist by this name. The painting probably dates to the 1950's or thereabouts. The frame has very light wear but retains its value.

This is a beautiful, elegant, understated winter landscape oil painting on panel, signed at lower right by noted Avon, Connecticut impressionist painter CONSTANT RAPHAEL FURRICK (1888-1966), measuring 11 1/2" by 15 1/2" (19" by 23" as framed). Strangely, considering the quality of the work, there seems to be little information available on the artist. He was I believe born in Poland. Furrick's work is scarce, with few auction records...

A classic painting of the California desert and mountains, oil on Masonite, 12" by 15" (15" by 18" in vintage old frame possibly carved by artist), signed lower left by noted California impressionist JOSEPH FREY (1892-1977). This is likely a view looking west towards the towering 11,000 foot high Mt. San Jacinto massif which looms over Palm Springs. The artist has interestingly painted in a "liner" border in a cream color; this is part of the painting and not a linen liner...

A quality work, the medium watercolor on a very thin linen type canvas, framed behind glass, 14 1/4" by 18 1/2" (22" by 26" framed), signed at lower right and bearing there a monogram cypher in an oriental art style, by San Diego artist and collector ELSIE STEWART KIMBERLY (1882-1966). There is little information on this talented woman artist, who was evidently most known around the San Diego area...

Oil on canvas painting of grouse in the snow among pines, 16" by 20", signed at lower right "Berta C. Richards 50", and titled in ink on the reverse "Spring Around the Corner/in Colo Foot Hills/Berta C. Richards/1950". I do not see a listing for the artist but this vintage oil is competently executed by a talented hand. The condition is excellent, since this has been protected actually behind glass, in the veneer-type frame often seen on Currier and Ives prints...

SHAW", the subject on one side six figures, a man, bare breasted women and children, in an obviously tropical village, the other side three figures, the woman bare breasted. This is a painting by listed American artist HARRY HUTCHINSON SHAW (1897-1989). Shaw is today most closely associated with Florida and Pennsylvania...
