By the recently deceased celebrated modern English artist ALFRED DANIELS (1924-2015) this is a 25" by 30" oil on canvas, unframed, titled on an original label of the artist "Going to Church/Hvar--Yugoslavia", signed at lower right and dated 1961. The scene is a church situated on a small rise by the sea, its blindingly white tower and red tile roof contrasting with a violet sky, and the dark green trees of the Adriatic coast...

Beautifully painted impressionist work by artist "Rosis", dated at lower right 1961, the scene buildings and old style lamp posts, the French tricolor flag appearing several times. The painting though created at mid twentieth century seems to harken back to the famous late 19th century scenes by vaunted artists like Monet, Sisley, Pissarro, and the other major impressionists.
