A beautifully painted oil on Masonite work featuring the peak autumn color in the mountains, likely the Laurentians north of Montreal. The artist is VIVIAN WALKER (1903-1994), who signed her name in the wet paint, at lower left. Walker was born in Hawkesbury, Ontario. She received art training in the Montreal area including at the Ecole des Beaux Arts. She was a student of Adam Sherriff Scott and E. Stanley Turnbull (the latter, in New York)...

Smith is a familiar artist on the plein air scene and I believe his works are presently underrated in the marketplace. Folk Art Portrait by American Artist, attributed to Sheldon Peck (1797-1868). This Portrait was purchased at a North Carolina auction from the Larew Collection. The 19th century oil on canvas portrait of a gentleman was said to be Thomas Johnston from Concord, NC (Sept. 1850). It was marked on the original canvas (relined) bought in Davie County. It is mounted in a mahogany veneer frame with yellow pine backing. Canvas 29" 24" and the Frame is 38" x 33"...

This miniature of George Washington was found by an advanced collector in London. We have agreed to research this miniature for the owner. The very American style of painting on ivory miniature measures 42mm x 35mm, and is mounted in its original gold frame. To date, we have sent photos of this miniature to Mount Vernon and to another advance collector in the South. We will advise more as we receive more information on this rare item.

Oil on board painting of trees in a landscape, 11" by 9" in narrow original frame, signed at lower right by listed artist "A. KLUG". The painting is executed in a very impressionist hand, and is quite lovely, but is also very dirty. A professional cleaning would really be well worthwhile investment. The frame being old is showing its age, with losses as seen. The artist is listed in Davenport's dictionary of artists but there does not seem to be much information available on him or her.

Major geometric abstract oil on masonite painting, by Joseph Meierhans, circa 1940's. Gold leaf original frame - in excellent condition this work [image] measures app. 27 1/2" X 33 1/2". Meierhans, b. - 1890 in Switzerland, came to the United States in 1917, eventually settling in Bucks County. He studied under A.N.Lindenmuth and J. Sloan. He was a member of the S.Indp.Artists, ASL, Provincetown A.A. and the American Abstract Artists.

Oil on canvas painting of a tabby cat, 7" by 5" (12" by 10" framed), circa 1970 to 1980 judging from the framing, signed lower right "Jody". The artist was certainly talented; the likeness of the cat to reality is well above average. Condition is excellent. Needs to be nailed more tightly into frame.

MARTIN" is written in a late hand on the reverse side of the RELINED canvas, and then it appears there was an attempt to rub that out. It is painted on academy board which measures 10 1/2" x 12 1/2" and is mounted in a beautiful carved frame which appears to be original to the painting. The frame measures 18" x 16".
