A painting of the famous Andes mountain and lake resort of Bariloche in central Argentina, oil on canvas, 22" by 29", unframed, signed "MA" at lower right and "M. C. Alsina" on stretcher, circa 1960. The work is dusty and could benefit from a cleaning to remove foxing in the sky, and has some paint losses that can be easily restored (scratch at left and lower extreme corner). The deep blue of the sky against the gray of the mountains and lake makes for an elegant and satisfying color pairing...

A rare and powerful painting directly on a rather crude wood panel, unframed, 16 3/4" by 23 3/4", by the important twentieth century Peruvian artist ALICIA BUSTAMANTE VERNAL (1907-1968), featuring a group of native people climbing in the bleak mountain landscape, the forward group carrying a shrouded body for burial.
