A colorful little original oil painting on canvas, not stretched but laid simply behind a hand-made paper mat then placed in a colorful decorative picture frame, no glass, 9" by 7" as framed, signed at left by artist and dated there 1996. No doubt a tourist art piece, it is quite charming, reminding of Haitian and other Caribbean folk art. Condition is excellent.

Hans Zatzka was born on 8 March 1859 in Vienna. A beautifully painted 1927 oil on canvas of flowering plants in ceramic pots on a small terrace or deck, signed at lower left with what appears as "Yos. Bell" followed by "Mallorca 1927". This would have been painted during the optimistic years between the wars, on Spain's Balearic Islands. The unframed piece measures 26 1/2" by 31 1/2". An online search for an artist name that matches this has been unsuccessful; perhaps I am misreading it...
