A painting from Anne Lane’s series of sorrowful themed oils. This piece measures 40 x 30“ oil on canvas Anne Lane studied art at George Mason University in Virginia, completed her education at Saint Patrick’s college, Ireland, where she studied theology and philosophy. The tonal and contemplated intensity of her paintings reflect her 10 years spent working as an artist under the desert sun of New Mexico. Her vibrant style, resonant with color and baroque details swoon over her canvases...

Very subtle and elegant oil on canvas, 24 1/2" by 30" (27 1/2" by 33 1/2" as framed) signed at lower right by listed Midwest artist MARY C. PETERSON and dated "31", showing an Asian inspired still life scene in monochromatic minimalist tones of beige, gray and tan. The artist added just a spot of color at lower left where two iris are in full flower. This is a particularly easy to live with painting---I enjoyed it on my wall for quite some time...
Oil on canvasboard, 18" by 24", the subject dramatic, fluted, snowy mountain ridges pictured perhaps in late fall, as autumnal colors dominate the creekside grasses in the foreground, the painting signed at lower left "A. Nebeker" and dated there 1966. The location might be but I feel it could be most likely somewhere like Utah or Colorado in the intermountain West, or possibly the eastern slope of the Sierra in California...
A contemporary watercolor painting of a flowering shrub, unsigned, 12" by 18" (20" by 26" in attractive gold frame in good condition), possibly of east coast origin as the framer's sticker is from Boston. This reminds somewhat of mountain laurel, the state flower of Connecticut, but that is pure speculation (mountain laurel is usually more white though there are pink and dark pink varieties). In any event, botanical questions aside, this watercolor is nicely executed and in excellent condition...

Watercolor painting of yellow roses on their prickly stems, 11" by 7 3/4" (16 1/2" by 12 3/4" framed), unsigned, circa late 19th century or early 20th. There is an old framer's label on the reverse backing from Boston. Condition is good, mat should be replaced, as well as old-style acidic old sawn wood backing boards. The mat edges did leave browning to mark their presence but that would be hidden completely by a new mat.
