A scarce lithograph print, the sheet 10 3/8" by 6 3/4" (13 1/2" by 10 1/2" in inexpensive modern framing) signed in the plate and dated 1893 by the noted French artist PAUL-ALBERT BESNARD (1849-1934). The image is a self-portrait of the Paris-born artist, who initially worked in the academic tradition before changing over around 1880 to an impressionist style. Besnard was commissioned to execute a number of murals at significant venues around Paris...

Unusually large detailed engraving, 31 1/4" by 20 1/8", laid down on board, of Christ coming down off the Cross, this example engraved by Nicolaus Dorigny (1657-1776), and possibly after Daniel Ricciarelli (1509-1566), in turn after a painting by Raphael. The work is dated 1720 at lower left. There's a lot of text in Latin at bottom, and a close look reveals the names of the two above artists...

Dramatic linocut print, the sheet 26 1/4" by 17 7/8", unframed, numbered at lower left 3/6 and pencil signed at lower right and dated there 1971, the "HB" blind stamp adjacent, by the important and still highly underrated Swiss-California modernist HANS GUSTAV BURKHARDT (1904-1994). The subject is somewhat uncertain; perhaps a look at a catalogue raisonne of the artist's graphic works would provide the title. Burkhardt was born in Switzerland and arrived in America in 1924...

This horizontal print, created in 1973, is Work 73-14A, a dramatic depiction of the kanji for Dragon. It is 17 of 103 and measures 16.25inW x 11.5inH. Maki did perhaps a dozen dragons and this is one of the most striking.

This small lively print depicts two generations of small children playing. It measures 6.25in x 8 3/16in.

Original etching LA REVUE (The Review) by Jacques Callot printed in 1627, second state of two, Lieure catalog number 592. The print was done just before Callot started working on a huge print “Le Siege de Breda” and must have been done for better understanding of military formations. A framed woodblock print by the hand of one of the masters of 20th century Japanese printmaking, 8 1/2" by 11 1/4" inside the existing mat, 15" by 18" framed, signed in pencil by the artist at lower right and numbered 43/120 at lower left margin in pencil. The image is of a nighttime snowfall in front of a traditional Japanese structure. Sekino was creating art before age 20. He knew Shiko Munakata, the famous printmaker, while still young, as they were from the same area...

Oversized limited-edition Japanese woodblock print by Joshua Rome (b. 1953) titled “Fuyu no Hi (Winter's Day)” dated 2/15/1981. The bottom margin is titled, dated, numbered 30/100 and signed in pencil. The artist's red seal is beside the signature. Paper: 9" x 24 5/8" (image: 6 11/16” x 21 5/8"). Very good overall condition. The print is very lightly sunstruck and there are tiny brown spots about the size of the tip of a pin scattered throughout the paper.

This is an attractive and elegant poster, issued in 1954 for an exhibition of the works of the ultra famous and important Swiss sculptor, painter and printmaker, ALBERTO GIACOMETTI (1901-1966). Measuring 29" by 20 1/2", it is simply framed in modern metal with glass and no mat. The edition size of this particular poster, titled "Rue d'Alesia", is unknown. It is signed in the stone at lower right...
