Maki's Emanation series may well have been 100 different images. This is an early one. It shows a young man ready to grope a woman’s breasts. Who is the man and who is the woman? Adam and Eve? Haku Maki in 1968 did a group of prints depicting animals from Asia’s Zodiac, which has an animal for each year in a 12-year cycle. Maki called this series of prints Animal Song. This one is Animal Song 申, the character for the Year of the Monkey. The print is square, measuring 17 1/8 in W x 17 1/8in H, and is in excellent condition.

In 1971 Haku Maki produced two large prints, one Sun and one Moon. Sun shows a dramatic sun with a red dash all surrounded by a gold field-- Poem 71-100. Poem 72-101 is Moon with a similar design. There is a dark spot in the center. Each print was produced in editions of 156. This pair was offered privately and on eBay by a very insightful seller from Tennessee. A print of Pierre-Auguste Renoir's 1889 painting "A Young Girl with Daisies", 9 1/2 by 7 1/2" (18" by 16" in the attractive wood frame). The print is very glossy, as made---giving the impression of being on porcelain, or made as an enamel. The frame is likely of Mexican origin and is hand carved and gilded, making for an attractive combination. A work for the Renoir fan who cannot quite afford the real deal at a Sotheby's auction.
