After a drawing by the noted French artist JEAN-FRANCIS AUBURTIN (1866-1930), this is an engraving in sanguine colored ink by the noted Swiss artist GEORGES AUBERT (1886-1961). Both artists have signed their names in pencil, Auburtin at the left and Aubert at the right. The work measures approximately 14" on a side within the mat opening (not examined out of frame), and 20" by 18 1/2" as framed...

Jean Emile Laboureur 1887-1943 French This is an original engraving by French artist Jean Emile Laboureur. This engraving was created and printed in 1920. One of 6 pencil signed impressions prior to publication in L'Architectures in an edition of 500 unsigned impressions. The image measures 11 5/8X8 1/8 inches. Hand signed in pencil lower left. Very nicely framed with a linen matting. This is one of his largest images done in his distinctly cubist style.

The French fashion and costume magazine "La Mode Illustree" operated from about 1859 through at least the 1920's, featuring the styles of the day. This is a fine engraving, circa 1875 or 1880, judging from the fashion depicted. It is hand colored. Size as framed is 13 1/2" by 9 1/2". The framing though narrow is an interesting design. The print has some overall light browning/aging as would be expected of paper of this age---but it is even and not at all obtrusive...

Decorative old engraving of early New York, printed in Paris, circa 1850, with quality contemporary framing and hand drawn mat lines. This lovely print is ready to hang in your traditional fine interior. The print is exceptionally clean and fresh as is the mat (photo shows what appears as a scratch in glass at upper left, it was simply foreign matter I removed easily after the photo). The work bears a label of Summa Gallery, Brooklyn Heights, New York. Measurements 12 1/4" by 13 1/4".

Nineteenth century English hunting scene after the noted English artist who specialized in equestrian, racing, coaching and hunting scenes HENRY ALKEN (1785-1851). A lovely hand colored scene, "City of Providence", engraved by listed American 19th century artist ASA COOLIDGE WARREN (1819-1904) after an apparent painting by artist R. Hinshelwood (see lower right margin for that name). Robert Hinshelwood (1812-1879) came from England circa 1835; he was an engraver, etcher and painter. The panoramic view is from a high point, and some tiny figures in the composition add human interest...

A fine example of the etcher's art---an original etching titled in lower margin "The Smoker", signed in plate at lower left "Meissonier" (and date that looks like 1818), signed again at extreme lower right corner by Paul Adolphe Rajon (1843-1888). This is after a circa 1850's original painting by the important 19th century French painter JEAN-LOUIS-ERNEST-MEISSONIER (1815-1891). Rajon created the etching after the painting, in the 1870's...
