This large print is an etching on paper in dark brown ink, and a heavily inked example at that, the subject apparently "Turkish Cemetery", according to a pencil notation in the upper left margin. Measuring 19" by 20" inside the mat (28" by 28 1/2" as framed), the work is signed in pencil in margin at lower left with the distinctive signature of the noted English modern art figure FRANK BRANGWYN (1867-1956)...

Original scarce to rare etching of the year 1910, "The Avenue, Valenciennes", signed at lower right margin in pencil by the important American etcher, illustrator, critic, author and teacher JOSEPH PENNELL (1857-1926). The print measures 10" by 13" inside the mat (12 1/2" by 15 1/2" in the framing). After the signature, the "imp." indicates that Pennell would have printed this himself...

Robert Shaw was a contemporary of Howard Pyle and J.D. Chalfont.
- He is best known for his Delaware scenes and did not exhibit widely outside Wilmington and seems to have had little interest in exhibiting nationally. He did, however, show in the Delaware Building at the World's Columbian Exposition and also at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 1890.

A very interesting etching of what appears to be Paris' Montmartre section, (the windmill a famous feature, painted by many artists), signed in pencil in the lower right margin "B. Vilard". Surprisingly I do not see a listing for an artist by this name---could possibly be a pen name.. The work measures 8 1/2" by 11" inside the mat and 13 3/4" by 16 1/4" framed. It is very clean and fresh, despite likely dating to the first half of the 20th century. Note the subtle blue/brown colors.
A rare opportunity to acquire a work by the important California artist AUGUST GAY (1890-1948): an etching on delicate thin tissue-like paper, apparently unsigned, the sheet 5 7/8" by 8 1/8" (9 3/4" by 10 3/4" in black strip frame). The subject is the historic old Stevenson House in old Monterey, a favorite subject of many artists...

Plate size 11 3/4 x 13 5/8 inches, published by Pierre Mariette in 1637, with lettering in Latin below the image. Printed on a very early watermarked laid type paper.
Colored etching, 7 3/4" by 4 3/8" inside the mat, 13 1/4" by 9 3/4" framed, pencil signed at lower right margin, with "No. 18" notation, by the famous French artist, JEAN-FRANCOIS RAFFAELLI (1850-1924). This is a sympathetic depiction of a common woman of the lower class, gathering sticks on a chilly day for her cooking fire or hearth. Raffaelli found the common, the poor, the working class, and the underprivileged people of Paris and its industrial suburbs to be his favorite subjects...

Catalog reference: Gaunt 245. Edition of 54. Pencil signed in the lower right. Sir Frank Brangwyn was one of the most important British artists of the early 20th century. A member of the Royal Academy, the Royal Watercolor Society, and the Royal Society of British Artists, he was knighted in 1924.

A framed PAIR of framed color prints, one (Place de la Concorde, central Paris) 8 3/4" by 12 1/2" (13 1/2" by 17" framed, no glass), the other (Notre Dame and bookstalls along the Seine) 8 1/2" by 12" (15" by 18" framed). Each is pencil numbered at lower left out of editions of 500, and signed at lower right in pencil, by the noted French 20th century impressionist painter CHARLES BLONDIN (1913-1991)...

This is a fine original etching by British marine artist Arthur Briscoe. The title is: The Main Brace, created and printed in 1929. The image measures 13 11/16X9 15/16 inches, printed on an antique wove type sheet. It is hand signed with pen and ink and also numbered 39/75. " This view of men hauling in on the brace while at the same time keeping their balance in the heeling ship as a spray sweeps over the weather rail."
