Etching on paper, 16 1/4" by 14 1/4", with narrow metal framing, pencil signed at lower right by artist, who, if I read correctly the Russian on the reverse, is one VLADIMIR KOSTROMIN. An old original label on reverse has a 1978 date, so I would imagine the print dates to the late 1970's. The ink is a greenish black. Moisture has compromised the margins and mold stained and rippled them; reframing would help exclude that...

This is an original pencil signed etching by French artist Charles Jacque (1813-1894) This etching of a Shepherd is quite large, rare for this artist. It has an image size of 14 3/4X18 1/4 inches. It is clearly signed in the lower right border. It is printed on a medium weight wove type paper, light even toning. A very rare image by this important Barbizon artist.

This is a fine print on a puckery, soft, Japan-like very delicate paper, the image featuring an obviously Orientalist figure and a greyhound-like dog. The print is after the original 1865 painting by the artist, that painting having been offered at Sotheby's auction in 2009.
