Japanese woodblock print by Kunitero Utagawa (1808-1876) in three sheets, depicting the war council of the forty seven ronin. These ronin, the loyal retainers, had been Samurai in the service of Lord Asano when he was obligated to commit seppuku for drawing his sword at the Palace of the Shogun. He was provoked to drawing by many insults from Kira Yoshinaka...

In 1977 Haku Maki did the images for the months of the year. June is a horizontal print measuring 13.75in W x 6in H.

Old photo of a seaside Greek temple with Doric columns, 10" by 14" (17" by 20 1/2" in metal framing with mat). I am not a specialist in vintage photography, but this seems to have some age. There is some silvering at lower right. The print might have been created from an old negative with some damage as there are some white spots in the print that are not damage to the print itself----I imagine that this is disturbance on the original negative...

A color print of the year 1932, issued by Frost and Reed of Bristol and London, titled "Going Out at Epsom", after a painting by the famous English equestrian artist ALFRED JAMES MUNNINGS (1878-1959), measuring 20" by 19 3/4" inside the existing linen mat and 31" by 30 1/2" in the wood framing. The print is NOT pencil signed. Munnings is perhaps the pre-eminent painter of all things horses, at least among 20th century artists...

A woodblock print with vivid PRINTED blue, red, green and yellow colors (NOT hand coloring), the subject a street scene in a German town, with extensive pencil writing in the bottom margin and what appears to be the date 1909. I showed images of this old style Germanic handwriting to Galerie Bassenge in Berlin and they were also unable to determine an artist name, but the writing is "Linolschnitt Orig. Handdruck...Alt Bielefeld…Bachstrasse...1909" (linocut, hand printed, Alt Bielefeld, etc.)...

One of a number of Whistler lithographs I am offering: "Portrait of Stephane Mallarme", 1892-93, measuring 3 1/2" by 2 3/4", mounted with hinges at top corners and in a protective sleeve. A label of Davidson Galleries, Seattle remains with the print. There are several condition issues. There is a jagged paper tear of about 1" at upper left, extending roughly down the level of his ear, though, well to the left of it, in the unprinted area...

This is a 1981 color poster issued by Tally Richards Gallery of Contemporary Art, Taos, New Mexico, pencil signed at center right (green area) and dedicated "For Debbie" at left, by the famous Native American contemporary artist FRITZ SCHOLDER (1937-2005). Scholder was arguably the best known and influential Native American artist of the second half of the twentieth century...

In the last year of Maki’s life, Daniel Tretiak tells us, he was ill but continued to work. He did lithographs on shikishi board, which was a hard board covered in white rice paper. The back was yellow with a small design in gold and the whole board is gold-edged. Poem 8B is one of those works done in the 1999-2000 period.

Poem 70-19 is one of the fairly small group of deep blue prints that Maki made. This one is 5.75 in W x 8.5in H and created in 1970. It is in good condition, with some toning due to its once having been framed.
