George Elbert Burr 1859-1939 American This is a rare etching by American artist of the Southwest, George Elbert Burr. The title is: Whirlwinds, Mojave Desert, California no. 2. It was created and printed circa 1930. This pencil signed and titled etching measures 8X10 inches. This appears in the Burr catalog as image number 281.

Original intaglio by Wendell H. Black (American, 1919-1972), in excellent original unframed condition. This work is titled l.l. and marked A/P, also signed by the artist's widow and dated l.r. It was posthumously printed by Berkley Chappell, who produced the first edition of the lost prints of Wendell Black. Cf. "The Lost Prints of Wendell H. Black" by Henry Sayre. Harold Kerr Eby 1889-1946 American This is an original etching and aquatint by American artist Kerr Eby. The title is Refugees, a study from his series of WWI images that he created as a War Artist. This pencil signed impression has an image size of 9 15/16X14 7/8 inches. This impression was last sold by Keppel in New York, it came to us in the original frame. A dramatic rich impression printed by the artist himself.

In the period 1966-67, Haku Maki did two large series with Song as the theme. There was Flower Song, a series of 10 prints. And there was Animal Song which was Maki’s Asian Zodiac series, with 12 images. It was also a small series with small editions--50 in the case of Animal Song (released in Kyoto, so very hard to find: only one friend has the full set), I do not know who has the full set of Flower Song. Yasuo Kuniyoshi 1889-1953 Japanese-American, Arts Students League N.Y. This is a fine original lithograph on Chine applique by American artist Yasuo Kuniyoshi. The title Before the Act, was created and printed in 1932 in an edition of only 40. Pencil signed and dated, printed by Grant Arnold, Woodstock. The image measrues 13 1/4X9 3/4 inches. Very fine condition. This image appears in the Davis catalog as image number 54.

The bottom margin states this is 39/777 but did Maki really do that many and if so where are they? This is a late-in-life Maki print. Where did this idea come from? A sunflower!
