Robert Shaw was a contemporary of Howard Pyle and J.D. Chalfont. - He is best known for his Delaware scenes and did not exhibit widely outside Wilmington and seems to have had little interest in exhibiting nationally. If the Master could do a Seat series in the 1960s he must have decided to do a Sink series in 1972. First, it did a small image in 1972 and then he ended the year with a larger image depicting the same sink theme. It is the one pictured here, Poem 72-61 Sink-S. It measures 9.75sq in.

Antique Japanese woodblock print by Koitsu Tsuchiya (1870-1949) entitled Moon at Sumanoura Beach. A lone villager walks on the beach lit by the full moon. In the foreground are gnarled pines.

Koitsu Tsuchiya began studying the art of woodblock printing at the early age of 15. He studied for 19 years under the ukiyo-e master, Kiyochika Kobayashi. In 1931, Koitsu turned to creating landscapes in the Shin Hanga style.
