This contemporary signet ring is the signet ring for the name Perrott, which hails from England, Scotland, Ireland. The most likely explanation for the name is that it derives from "little Peter", with Peter from the Latin "Petrus", meaning "stone" in Greek. Other similar names are Perrot, Perrin, Perron, Parrell and Perowne. Most of the coats of arms for the Perrott family include the 3 pears seen on this ring. Rust translucent resin chunks are wrapped with gold wire and separated with brass metal beads, creating this wonderful Francisca Flores bracelet From the interior of ring to the toggle the bracelet measures 9 3/4" (25.1 cm) long. Each of the cast resin chunks is about 1 1/4" (3.6cm) in diameter and with the gold wrapping about 7/8" (2.7 cm) deep. From around 1985, it is signed on the back: Francisca Flores Paris. Massive & chic, I don't think the bracelet was ever worn...

An 18k yellow gold double swirl modern design ring. This size 6-1/2 or 6.5 crossover style ring weighs an impressive 8.58 grams. It measures 7/8 x 7/8" across the setting which has deeply grooved shell or swirl like crossover sections (or conchiglie, or shell pasta, if you are so inclined). This is a heavy, substantial ring and it is unmarked, probably because of the addition of two sizing beads which may have obscured the hallmarks...

From our Southeast Asia Collection, a very striking contemporary Burmese writing box done in the "shwei-zawa" technique, with gold leaf floral designs known as "chupan" set against a shiny black lacquer ground, all done to very striking and dramatic effect. For those unfamiliar with this ancient Southeast Asian craft that began with the Thai in the seventeenth century, and is still practiced today mainly by the Burmese, Sylvia Fraser -Lu gives a simplified but useful explanation in Burmese Craft...
