"Les Indes Orientales". A very rare map by Nicolas de Fer, printed by Danet in Paris, 1721. Large and decorative, shows in detail the area enclosed by the Maledives to Afghanistan and the Yellow River to Java. Outlines coloured. Rare and early vintage albumen print of the Shimbashi Railway Station in Tokyo, with festive decoration and banners wearing the imperial seal "kiku-mon". The Tokyo to Yokohama rail line opened on 14th October 1872, with a great ceremony as the emperor took the first official ride, arriving at Shimbashi Station in a Western carriage. An authentic document signed by Gov. Alfred E Smith (NY) attesting to the fact that as requested by the Governor of Massachusetts he "surrendered" Fred W. Simmons, a fugitive from justice Dated August 17, 1927 . Smith's signature is in the lower right corner - it is also signed by counsel. The paper is folded and curled at the bottom edge; there are also two small puncture marks in the upper right corner.
Here is an original extradition writ that empowers Williaim H.Shields to "take and receive from proper authorities ...Cecil H. Kurth" Dated Oct 23, 1936 with Mayor Curley's Signature below a seal.The back of the document testfies to the transfer. (William is spelled incorrectly on the front page.)

Here is a rare collectible program from The President's Birthday Ball held at the State Armory in Newport RI on January 30, 1934. Various comittees are noted along with advertising. The front and back covers have smudges and paper loss around the spine and the last page with advertising also has some paper loss...Sold as is.

“Crown Prince thanks Minister Thomas for oration. Unveiling of John Ericsson Statue. Stockholm” Card depicting the American Ambassador to Sweden and the Swedish Crown Prince (later to become King Gustav V) surrounded by dignitaries. William W. Thomas Jr was Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to Sweden 1898-1905. The statue in question is still to be seen in its original place near the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm (cf the last photo). Size 3 ½ x 5 ½ " / 9 x 14 cm.

An interesting gold filled on silver (?) locket with an engine turned cover on either side lifting to reveal a close up daguerreotype of a well-dressed woman on one side and on the other side of the locket a well-dressed man.
