Lovely small plique-a-jour bowl on three small feet, design of flowers, good condition, size is 3 5/8" wide diameter by 2" tall, Showa Period (circa 1930's), Japan.

A briliant late Taisho Period C. 1930 murashido bronze brazier/flower vase. Murashido is now a favorite among bronze collectors for its art deco appeal and sensual colors. Dipped in hot oils at firing and then using straw smoke for added coloring. Heavy bronze. Good condition. Ask for shipping quote. 12" hig and 9" in diameter. heavy bronze.

Japanese sosaku hanga woodblock print by Hideo Hagiwara (1913-2007) titled "Snowy Day" dated 1959. Limited edition 2/30. Verso marked No.54-2. Image size about 17"V x 10"H (paper size: 17 7/8"V x 11 1/4"H). Very good color and overall condition. There is a small piece of tape remnant at the upper back margin edge verso. It does not show through on the front. There is a tiny bit of tape residue at the bottom edge and at the side margin. Both show through to the front very slightly...

A stand made of a fine piece of heavy, cypress wood emulating a rock. The top with a flat, smooth area on which to place items for contemplation or small ikebana arrangements. H 11 x L 24 cm. Japan or China, most probably from around 1920. Condition: Excellent with a wonderful patina.

Japanese cloisonne small vase with blooming roses. There is a fully bloomed red rose and a small budding red rose. Along the base, there is a blooming white rose with pink edged petals. The body of the vase is a cool white. Taisho period, early 20th century. It measures 1.75" base diameter, 4" widest, 5" tall. Good condition.

Hanging scroll. Shoki holds Futen’s wind bag which balloons around him and protects him from a very light rain. While Shoki has his hands full trying to control the wind bag, his bulging eyes are rolled in defeat and annoyance towards the right, where a little demon who has a Chinese mortar on his head and holds the pestle in its hand jumps in front of him.

Karhu, Clifton (1927-2007) was born in Duluth, Minnesota of Finnish descent. He was one of the most renown American woodblock artists to work in Japan. Round Format woodblock print depicting Medium:Woodblock Print, framed under glass. Date: 1983. Edition: 49/100. Size: D. 31 cm. Title: Nishijin corner. Signature: C KARH. Condition: Very good color, impression and state. Nishijin is a district in Kamiyyo-ku, Kyoto.

Rare Meiji metal Okimono of a Monkey Samurai or Sage unsigned , great sculpt nice detail in the fur . There are a few splits to the base and this figure has been clear coated long ago but its bubbling off and could be totally removed with little effort. We are not cleaning him and leaving that to the new owner. Size 13.5" by 7"

Large Japanese Bronze cat paw tripod Urn with Birds . Probably early 20th c urn with 4 wonderful high relief scenes of birds flowers and trees. Phoenix handles and sea dragon topped legs . Very well done no marked one piece undamaged could use a polish. Size H 18.25" W 9" weight 10 pounds.

A small four-fold iron tsuitate, damascened in gold and silver, showing a scene with a minogame turtle and two figures in a landscape. The reverse engraved with a crane among the "three friends of winter". Condition: fine, only minimal wear to gilding, base with little glue residue. Dimension opened: c. 15 x 27.3 cm.

A stylish cloisonné (shippo) beaker vase by Ando, 10” in height, circa 1950 – 1970. It has the original box with a pamphlet issued by the Ando Cloisonne Company, the leading cloisonné company in Japan. The note briefly introduces the company, how their cloisonné are made (with photos) and a photo of the very famous enameled mirror discovered in *Shoso-in.

*The Shoso-in was originally the storehouse of the Todaiji temple...

A limited-edition color woodblock print by the Japanese Sosaku Hanga artist Kiyoshi Saito (1907-1997). Titled "Obakusan Uji (A)", dated "1960" and numbered "38/150" in pencil. Hand signed in black ink and with red seal. Paper with watermark "Kiyoshi Saito". Condition: very good impression and color, laid down at upper corners. Dimension: image: 38.6 cm x 52.6 cm, paper: 45.5 cm x 60.1 cm.

A hermit under a plum tree. Painted with ink and pigments on silk. Signed Shumei and sealed.

The hermit seems to be relaxing under the plum tree, as if meditating. It is depicted with so much presence that he almost pop off the screen...

Unlike many of the pieces in the genre of Kyo-ware, this tea bowl is decidedly demure in appearance. Milky, flowing glaze pools in places along a backdrop of ivory and coral pink sides, contrasting nicely with the rough, unrefined clay of the base. In the center of the kodai is a decorative swirl pattern reminiscent of the yin and yang.

The potter, Kanpu Kawanabe (1873 - 1947) was born into a family of weavers but went on to be trained in many of the arts related to tea ceremony...

A round vase decorated with various flowers, emulating the Chinese style of porcelain known as mille fleur. The work was produced by the contemporary kutani artist, Nakata Kingyoku. The Nakata family is known for the raised painted technique. Includes its own tomobako, signed by the artist. Age: Showa Period Size: Diameter 9" Height 8.5"
