Japanese black lacquered paper mache box for storing tea. Holding a teapot, the figure's face and hands appear to be bone or ivory. Measures 5.5" x 2.75".

This is a set of a vintage Japanese porcelain tea plate, which was made by a Human National Treasure, Kaiji Tsukamoto (1912-1990) about 40 years ago.

This legendary star potter was honored in 1983 with the most importend award "Living National Treasure/Japanese Human National Treasure.

Flowers are molded on the plate. The seal of his kiln is stamped on the bottom.

A fine Japanese lid rest or futaoki as it is known in the tea ceremony. The lid rest is done in a technique known as karakane or bronze and has been hammered. The tachizuru or motif of standing cranes is often seen in various tea accessories representing the rise of auspiciousness. This lovely Bizen ware is called Kogo / incense container used for Japanese tea ceremony. The shape is a seed of wisteria suitable for tea ceremony in autumn / winter. This is the work of a potter Yoshimoto Shuho. Shuho was born in 1938 in Okayama prefecture and studied pottery under Fujita Yoshiro. After Shuho became independent, he first produced Bizen ware for 10 years...

Japanese Copper Tetsubin, Copper Tea Kettle, tea pot with Bamboo wrapped handle, 10 1/4" high with handle, 8 3/4" wide with spout, 6" wide-tea pot only, design of overlapping piece of cloth on the top of the tea pot, and Pewter coated inside and under the cover. Wrapped Bamboo handle is in good condition, bottom is dented and blackened over the years, and shows three(3) needle point size of holes on the bottom.

One cylindrical with a warm terra cotta colored glaze with white dripping on a coarse, light buff body burnt to an earthy orange where the bottom meets the glaze - the ring foot notched beside an impressed, three character artist's mark. 1) Stoneware incense box or kogo in the shape of an onna daruma (female daruma). She sits in the typical way, all rolled up in her garment, indicating that arms and legs may have fallen off. Her face shows striking similarity to Okame. Cream colored and reddish brown glaze over whitish soft clay, the face left partially free, fine crackle in the glaze. Japan, Meiji period...

Japanese 20th century tea bowl. The shallowly thrown tea bowl has beautiful gray coloration. Stamp on artist on bottom. The foot of the bowl was hand rolled and pressed onto the bottom of the bowl. The bowl measures 2 1/8" tall, 4 3/4" in diameter at the top and 2 1/4" in diameter at the base.
