His distinct style shows how he was influenced by his work as a textile designer and dyer of kimono fabric, a job he had when he first graduated from art school. The artist's black ink signature and red seal are at the upper right corner of the image. The Unsodo (“Un”) watermark is faintly visible at the lower left margin corner. The paper measures 15 7/8” x 10 3/4” (image: 14 5/16" x 9 1/2")...

Tall vessel of square shape, cut out of a section of a Paulownia (kiri) tree showing knots on three sides, where side branches used to be. The wood is stained dark brown. One side of the vessel is decorated with inlays/appliques and lacquer paint. The appliques colored with gold sprinkle, silver flakes and green lacquer.
