Cotton cloth which used to be obi (sash) for a casual kimono. It has hand-drawn tsutsugaki design. It was "Nagoya obi" which was invented in early 20th century to make it easier to tie in the traditional style. Inspired the works of Iizuka Rokansai, this open weave basket with richly toned dark red-brown split bamboo has a slightly tapering cylindrical body with an offset loop handle at the top. Signed with an incised signature on the bottom. Comes with a bamboo water container. Dates late 20th century. Measures 8” high including handle, 4.74” diameter. This basket had a very nice sheen to it that is not being captured by the photos. You will be pleased.
