A Japanese Kutani Moriage decorated figure of Hotei, one of the "Seven Gods of Good Luck" and also known as the "Happy God". He always carries the cloth bag that never empties, a walking stick to support the heavy bag, and the Chinese wish giving fan. He is also the patron saint of barkeepers. This Hotei is very large measuring about 17" tall x 10" wide, he weighs about 12 pounds, and he has the Kutani nine valleys mark on the base. We are dating this Hotei as Circa 1950...

Sterling silver creamer and sugar made by Sanborns Silver in the 1950s. Both pieces made in Mexico and marked "Sanborns Mexico Sterling" and "SA 925 m.m. Hecho en "Mexico D.F." Both measure 3.625" in diameter across the top. Both are 2.5" tall including the foot. Both pieces are in excellent condition. The overall weight of both is approximately one pound.

Fostoria Meadow Rose 11" Bowl is in mint condition. It is about 3.5" deep, has handles in the Baroque style. Produced in the 1940's.

Japanese Bizen Pottery Cup Stand in signed original wooden box, 1 7/8" high, 2 1/2" diameter-top rim, 1"-bottom rim, written numbers inside the cup on the side, with signed original box, the condition is good, no damage.

A pair of Japanese Imari porcelain dishes. A later example with Namban (or Nanban - Southern barbarian) subject "Black Ship" dishes. The decoration in the Imari palette depicting Portuguese figures and their famed trading ship, that between Japan and China. Good condition. Showa period, probably mid 20th century. Dimensions: Diameter about 10 inches, Height about 1 3/8 and 1/14 inches respectively.

An interesting Japanese cloisonne hexagonal vase decorated with motifs of chrysanthemums. The cloisonne is done in a technique aka-sukashi, ginbari, where the metal base contains a pattern which is showing through the red cloisonne glaze. Above the metal base is the cloisonne work of chrysanthemum flowers with a bird flying in the distance. On the rim of the foot, two marks can be seen...

A great addition to your holiday table. This is a silver plated Rogers wood handled 3-3/8" high brandy or sauce server with the matching fitted 6-1/2" underplate. Originally for pouring warm brandy it would be perfect for any sauce. This item is in excellent condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs (although the interior could use a bit of a cleaning)...

Newer Japanese bridal hair ornaments with roses and chrysanthemums. The butterflies on the chrysanthemums are attached with springs and are pretty flimsy; there are crawling snails on the rose leaves. Beautifully detailed as you can see. Your hair may look little too busy if you are to wear these all at once unless you have a huge dimensional hairdo as they used to (or they still do for the special occasions) back in Japan...

Being offered is a heavy circa 1950 sterling silver tray by Sanborns, of Mexico City, Mexico, entirely handwrought rectangular shaped tray fromed from a sheet of heavy gauge silver; resting on four domed feet, perfect for a dresser, for appetizers, olives, a luxurious soap dish etc. Dimensions: 7 inches long by 5 inches wide by 1/4 of an inch tall. No monogram. Marked as illustrated in photo. In excellent condition. Great silver guage…..heavy 7.5 ozs.

A set of Japanese tsuge (boxwood) combs in delicate hand-cut design, ca 1950, never been used. The combs made out of tsuge wood has been known to be gentle on the hair and scalp without causing static. They were treasured by the women and men for many, many centuries. For maintenance of the combs, camellia (tsubaki) oil has been used (but good vegetable oil should work as well?). The color of tsuge deepens as they were used from natural oil from our hair and the camellia oil...

An enamel on copper cup or beaker and a small dish. Both are Italian modernist pieces (1950’s), both enameled in tomato red with black speckles (the back of the dish in gilt and white). Both pieces marked Made in Italy: the cup with a small metal sign in the way of Paolo de Poli,the dish with impressed mark. Height of cup "2/ 5 cm, diameter of dish "3½/ 8,7 cm. Condition: fine.
