This ivory carving of a fairy riding a mythical beast is a mid 20th century product. It is 5 ½” high (6 ½” high with carved fitted wood base), 4” wide and 1 ½” thick. It depicts the fairy, He Xiangu, holding a lotus leaf and blossoms in one hand and a fly whisk in the other hand. She is sitting side ways on her mythical beast. An elegant celadon receptacle with custom made black lacquered lid by important female potter Suwa Sozan II titled Seiji Mizusashi and enclosed in a wooden box annotated by the third generation head of the family. The Taru shape (a traditional bound shallow wood bucket) is surmounted at the rim with lily pads upon which rests a tiny frog. In the center of the base is her circular stamp. Chinese dingyao bowl of shallow conical form with lobed rim. The widely flaring sides divided into six lobes, with indentations along the rim corresponding to thin raised lines radiating from the circular inner well.

Condition: Very good overall condition. Some kiln grit and a firing flaw on one of the lobes.

Pair of Chinese antique erotic mirrored imaged plates done in famille rose showing a man and a woman involved in creative pleasures. The plates are gilt rim and the underside of each plate are glazed in pink. On the base of each, there is a 6 character Tongzhi (1862-1874) mark in iron red. These plates come boxed.
