This is a finely hand-carved Japanese Netsuke depicting a Man who is kneeling on a platform or base, while feeding a treat to his dog. Excellent detail and expression. Great two-tone patina. Outstanding huge chimney himotoshi, common of netsuke from this period. Unsigned. Base measure 1.14 X 0.86 inches (2.8 X 2.1cm) Netsuke is 1.78 inches (4.5cm) tall. Netsuke is in excellent preserved condition.

This is a 19th century, excellently hand-carved Netsuke depicting a very surprised Rat Catcher, who is standing on one foot, while holding the tale of a rat that is crawling on his back. Another rat is crawling on the floor , near his foot. Outstanding detail and expression, as well as a two-tone patina. Unsigned. Netsuke measures 1.10 inches (2.8cm) wide, and 2.78 inches (7.1cm) tall.

This is a finely made Blue and White Porcelain Snuff Bottle, of tubular form with straight neck and rolled rim, resting on an unglazed footing, with a patterned band around the shoulder and neck. It depicts three figures with a donkey. It has a six-character Yongzheng mark on the base in undergrlaze blue. It comes with a rosette ceramic stopper. This is an exceptional Imperial, from the Jingdezhen Kilns, Family Rose Porcelain Snuff Bottle of circular form, with round neck, decorated on both sides in familie rose enamels with a large Katydid over a grass field, over a pure white background. The bottle rests on a raised footing. It has a four-character Daoguang seal mark in iron red and of the period. It comes with a green and black glass stopper. This is an exceptional Family Rose Enameled Porcelain Snuff Bottle of rounded rectangular form, tapering toward the base, with flared neck, decorated with a spectacular center Lotus blossom, with scrolling lotus buds and vines, set atop an aquamarine background. The underside bearing in iron red the Qianlong mark (1750 - 1850). It comes with an orange and black hardstone stopper. This is an Early 19th century excellently hand-carved Netsuke depicting a standing Scholar who is holding a scepter on his right hand. By his side, there is a Karako who is looking up to the scholar and holding a Jar. Intricate detail and rich patina. Signed Genyosai (Minkoku) on an oval reserve on the scholar's back. Netsuke measures 0,76 inches (2.0cm) wide, and 1.90 inches (4.8cm) tall.

This is a 19th century Japanese Netsuke depicting a standing Shoki, the demon-queller, with his drawn sword on his right arm; a stern expression on his face. Some of the porous characteristic of this material is observed on the bottom of the netsuke. Nice, uneven himotoshi shows signs of use. Unsigned. It measures 1.08 inches (2.8cm) wide, and 2.02 inches (5.1cm) tall.

19th Century, Boxwood Netsuke finely hand-carved and engraved boxwood netsuke depicting a squatting Karako (Chinese Boy), wearing the customary Chinese garb, hiding an Okame mask behind his back. He is doing the Bekkanko gesture, which tells us that he is playing a game with his friends where the objective is for other people to guess what he is hiding. Nice compact form; great expression and form details; nice mellow patina. Netsuke measures 1.27 inches (3.2cm) wide, and 1.51 inches (3.8cm) tall. It is in excellent condition, as you may be able to see in the posted photos.

This is finely carved 18th Century Japanese netsuke depicting Jittoku Sennin. He is a Chinese Shih Teh who appears as a boyish figure that is marked with the wrinkles of old age. He is often depicted holding a broom, such as in this case. Incredible large chimney himotoshi, common of netsuke made during the Edo period of Japan. Unsigned. Netsuke measures 1.64 inches (4.2cm) wide, and 2.01 inches (5.1cm) tall. Although it has some wear in the front, it is nicely preserved, with a rich two-tone patina, and in incredible condition for its age.

19th Century, nicely hand-carved Ebony Netsuke depicting Ama, the Diving and Fisher Girl, standing with a basket on her back, accepting the advances of the amorous Octopus that is enveloping her legs with its tentacles and placing one of them in her private parts. The netsuke is unsigned. It measures 0.75 inches (1.9cm) wide, and 2.68 inches (6.8cm) tall. It is in excellent conditon, as may be seen in the posted photos.

This is an Early 19th Century, Dear Horn Antler Netsuke in the form of a Recumbent Ox with a rope attached to its head that is laying on top of its body. Excellent detail and powerful compacted form on a material that is very difficult to carve. unsigned. Netsuke measures 1.75inches (4.5cm) wide, 1.16 inches (3.0cm) deep, and 0.79 inches (2.0cm) tall. Ox's right rear hoof has been repaired, but, its otherwise, in excellent condition, as may be seen in the posted photos.

This is a finely carved and lacquered wood Ojime in the form of a Double-Sided Kyogen (Japanese Theater) character masks depicting Okina on one side and Okame on the reverse, with mother-of-pearl inlays. The center cord hole or himotoshi are lined with shakudo or copper and gold alloy. It is not signed, but is attributed to Hozan, a netsuke-shi who worked in wood with metals and lacquer accents in Early 19th century. He was a pupil of Hojitsu. Ojime measures 0.66 inches (1.6cm) in diameter, and 0.74 inches (1.8cm) tall. It is in excellent condition as may be seen in the posted photos.

This is a boxwood Okimono/Netsuke excellently carved in the form of a seated and screaming Daruma, dressed in red robes, with his arms extended and hands clasped together in front of him. Very real and painful expression in Darumas's face. Double inlaid eyes in ivory and dark horn. Well-formed teeth also inlaid in ivory. This is the largest sample of this subject that we have ever seen. It measures 2.12 inches (5.4cm) wide, 3.6 inches (9.2cm) long, and 2.1 inches (5.4cm) tall. Toes on right foot appear to have been repaired/restored, but, well done. Otherwise, this miniature sculpture is in excellent condition, as shown in the posted photos.

The center cord hole or himotoshi are lined with shakudo or copper and gold alloy. Signed Hoshin in the back of the Daruma. Ojime measures 0.63 inches (1.6cm) in diameter, and 0.80 inches (2.0cm) tall. It is in excellent condition as may be seen in the posted photos.
