Large waisted form teabowl with hakeme slip decoration under a clear and iron yellow glaze. Where the iron glaze ends, the glaze has run into the clear glaze forming very decorative tendrils reminiscent of Japanese ferns.

Very large Karatsu style teabowl that was thrown and tataki paddled with texture into an oval form. There are various tones of ash and iron yellow flowing about the bowl, especially seen on the inside. The foot is tooled by hand, off the wheel, to go with the form of the bowl. The clay is a mixture of actual river clay and my stoneware clay to give it an earthy iron brown flavor.

I apologize for the poor pictures, I am a potter, not a photographer and the size and contrast made it difficult to photograph.

Lively wood fired Shino chawan by Kido Sadaaki. This stoneware chawan has a variety of wood fired effects from a thin coating of green ash about the surface to a crusty ash build up on the face of the pot. the bowl form fits well in the hand and the lip undulates enough to get the eye to observe the melted feldspar running into the interior and the deep, rich green pool that punctuates the center. A very large notched foot chawan by Hagi master; Yamane Seigan. This Hagi glazed boxed chawan measures 5.5” X 3.6” and is in excellent condition. This chawan is has heavily animated keshiki landscape and feels wonderful in the hands. The glaze of this chawan wonderfully accentuates the form and foot of the iron rich clay body and powerful form. This is Seigan at his best!

This chawan is in excellent, unused condition and comes complete with the original signed box.
