This robust and modernist Haku-yu ( white ash) glazed mizusashi is by Kakurezaki Ryuichi protégé; Ishii Takahiro. This mizusashi is a creative statement to say the least and measures 10.5” X 9.75” X 6” and comes complete with the original signed box. Note the idiosyncratic and creative calligraphy! This piece is in excellent condition, excepting the lid which was repaired with gold lacquer!

Large, hand carved Oribe vase form by Kato Shinya (Sakusuke V). This large vessel was thrown round and later altered to the current form where the surface was meticulously hand carved in this bold repeat pattern around the form and then glazed over in a rich deep green Oribe glaze.

Large and impressive Iga chawan by rising Iga-yaki star, Atarashi Manabu.The surface of this chawan is covered in a sheet of glass and there is wonderful bidoro drips and clam shell impressions where the chawan was fired on its side. Large Momoyama influenced tataki paddled Oribe vase with large lugs applied on the neck. The pot was fired on wads, which were ground off and the areas are smooth to the touch. This piece has a great deal of volume and is much larger than the dimensions imply.

This large Zenga chawan is glazed in a rich Oribe with a panel of ash clear glaze on which Kasumi Bunsho brushed “Don’t Know” and his full signature, Myoshin Abbot Jishunken with various seals. The Mino tradition chawan was made by Hayashi Ryouji of the Souzan kiln to act as the platform for Bunsho’s idiosyncratic and spontaneous calligraphy.
