Elegant and classical form vase covered in a thick, pale blue seihakuji glaze with a peach-bloom like blushed copper red accent across the face of the pot. The vase is glazed porcelain and is a blend of Chinese and Japanese influences and is in perfect condition with its original signed box. The vase measures 9.8" x 4.5".

This vase was made by veteran Kyoto potter and glaze magician, Morino Kako (1899-1987), father of Morino Taimei...

Rich Oribe serving piece, an Ogi-hachi, fan shaped tray for tea ceremony, kaiseki. This piece is made of stoneware and was made by veteran Oribe potter, Kato Sakusuke. His works are widely exhibited and published and his touch for making Oribe pottery is wonderful.

This piece is in great condition with its signed box and measures 12.5" by 9"

Pair of richly glazed molded bottle vases by master potter, Kawai Takeichi. The taller leopard spotted tessha bottle is 9.2" x 5.9" and is in perfect condition. The smaller gosu blue with pale celadon like accents measures 7" x 4.4" and is also in perfect condition. Both of this vases come with their original signed boxes and both pieces are included in this single sale.

Large blue & white, sometsuke chawan with a vivid pine branch, matsu, stretching across the bowl. This chawan is by Kondo Hiroshi, son of Kondo Yuzo, Living National Treasure...

This large Haku En-Yu, white salt fired, chawan is by Kyoto master potter; Iwabuchi Shigeya (1925-1993). This soft white chawan has very subtle undertones of a pink blush over its surface and is covered with a series of crazed and crackled salt glaze deposited on the white slipped surface of the bowl. The generous bowl shape is reminiscent of older Hagi and even Korean chawan and is terminated with an exceptional bamboo node formed foot...

Pair of mentori, faceted style vases by Shigaraki master potter, Kohyama Yasuhisa (b. 1936). The vase on the left side of the photos is an early Shigaraki mentori vase that was wood fired in his first anagama kiln, the vase on the right is a Hakuyu glazed vase, glazed with a Hagi style white glaze which Kohyama uses to this day on his "standard ware" functional pottery...

I'll start off by saying that I am selling this sculpture for a friend who is moving to smaller lodgings and I personally know almost nothing other than the obvious facts regarding this offering and this is being offered as is. What I can tell you is this large sculpture measures 47 x 15 x 24cm overall and is in very good condition comprised of the tiger pair on a raised plinth of lacquered (?) wood that is being referred to as; "two tigers walking"...

This great celadon & tessha glazed chawan is by noted 20th century master; Kawai Takeichi (Bu'ichi). This elegantly formed chawan exhibits a skillful use of iron tessha over a gosu based celadon glaze that shows a wonderfully mysterious that appears like drifting “metallic” clouds on a soft amber to green background. The interior of the chawan is also awash with broad bands and speckles of the rich iron glaze that seems suspended on the surface...

Graceful and serene squared form bottle/vase by master Hagi potter, Tahara Tobei (1925-1991). This pot was first thrown round and paddled skillfully into a squared form, iron slipped and then glazed in a Hagi ash glaze to create this other worldly keshiki landscape. The surface ranges from a rich chocolate brown to areas of a muted lavender and grey with pink and creams tones spotted about...

Very nice boxed Aka-Raku chawan with black reduction accents on the face of the bowl by an unidentified potter, circa 1990.

This chawan is in excellent condition, measures 5" X 3.5" and comes with its signed boxed.

Though I could not identify this potter, the box seal and seal on the chawan are an exact match. What I can say is that this is not an apocryphal mainline raku chawan and is not by Sasaki Shoraku, Ohi Choraku or some of the other usual suspects. Priced accordingly.

Exceptional stoneware vase that was subtly and expertly faceted, glazed in a rich nuka style glaze and decorated in Tale of Genji inspired partridges in platinum lustre. The presence and volume of the pot are hard to put in to perspective with the dimensions, 12" x 8.5" and a guinomi has been placed in the last photo to give a sense of the scale...

Ido-gata Hagi chawan made to resemble a katakuchi pouring vessel. Glazed in a milky, creamy pink to beige tinged Hagi glaze, this chawan has a “ceremonial” spout applied, harkening back to the early days of chanoyu when found objects played the essential role in the ceremony...

Robust Shino vase of squared form with areas of poured underglaze iron slip creating areas of Aka-Shino (iron red) and Muji-Shino (white)across the piece. This vase was made by the well respected and exhibited Kato Shuntei (1927-1995) who was a true Mino traditional potter.

Rich and enigmatic Ki-Seto hachi with incised foliate design and copper accents. This plate was made by Prefectural Living national Treasure Kato Sho (1927-2001) who excelled at all styles of the Mino tradition. This piece has a very tranquil Momoyama feel to it.

This large and robust Shino chawan was made by one of master chadogu, tea pottery makers of Japan, Tamaoki Yasuo. Though unboxed this is a classic early chawan with a milky, translucent Shino glaze over some iron decoration on the face of the bowl. The chawan was made out of excellent mogusa clay and the well sculpted foot and base show off the material to maximum affect...

Hagi chawan from the illustrious studio of Yoshiga Taibi, legendary potter and teacher. This Senryuzan chawan is a classical Hagi pot with rich tones of lavender running through out the glaze.

This chawan is in great condition, measures 5.25" x 3.5" and comes with its signed box.
