Tall cylindrical Hagi vase with kushime decoration and slipwork under a translucent ash clear glaze. The vase and box are signed "Kazunobu"

This vase is in excellent condition and measures 10.25" X 3.15" and comes complete with its original signed box.

Classic devil's bucket style Shigaraki mizusashi by veteran master craftsman, Tani Seiuemon I. This impressive and well fired Shigaraki mizusashi was thrown and has a rich surface and a lid that sits well on the turned in mouth. Fired in an anagama wood fired kiln for nearly a week, the resulting effects paint the surface with deposits of natural ash some of which turn to glass across the surface...

Elegant cap jar glazed in my temmoku with a runny iron tetsu partridge feather glaze. This cap jar resembles some Tamba and karatsu works and has a rich variety of iron, green and grey-black tones to the runny overglaze.

Bold porcelain wan-gata teabowl with etched Hi-Tsuchi-Mizu (Fire, Earth, Water) kanji rondels and netting design under my temmoku and haiyu glazes rendering a Karatsu style appearance. The kanji represent the essential elements of pottery making.

Large and impressive Iga chawan by rising Iga-yaki star, Atarashi Manabu.The surface of this chawan is covered in a sheet of glass and there is wonderful bidoro drips and clam shell impressions where the chawan was fired on its side. The kodai, foot is wonderfully sculpted and fits well into the hand when in use.

Atarashi Manabu is one of the new generation of Iga and Shigaraki potters who is reinvigorating these ancient traditions...

A very fine ash glazed Haiyu-Shino chawan by Heian Seijiro. This ash glazed, Haiyu, boxed chawan measures 5.4” X 3.2” and is in excellent condition. The surface of the piece is very luminescent and is wonderful crazed resembling kanyu (double refractory) style celadons

Rozome style decorated chawan in the Sanyon design. The green overglaze is very reminiscent of Japanese Fujina style glazes and is very rich in person, the interior is a hakame style white slip

Vivid texture and color variations paint this bold swirl platter by Shigaraki and Oribe specialist, Yamaguchi Yoshinari. Made of a tight buff-white stoneware the Oribe glaze has created varying hues of green depending on the thickness of the glaze with high points having a brighter surface and a thick pool of green glass in the center of the plate with rich blue-green tones where the copper has become over-saturated...

Large and playful Oribe chawan by contemporary pottery phenom; Ishii Takahiro. This summer, natsu-wan, style chawan is glazed in Ishii’s own Oribe glaze that shimmers with iridescence and allows plenty of the tsuchi-aji to peak through as he glazed the pot. Balanced on a well addressed circular kodai, this chawan is equally at home displayed or in the hand...

Classic and Momoyama inspired chaire in Oni-Shino style with a wide array of textures, varied coloration and a simple reed/pampas grass decoration carved through an iron-rich slip under a thick feldspathic glaze. The use of varying thicknesses of the Shino glaze not only accentuates the form but creates a moody and atmospheric appearance like mist clinging to a lakes edge...

This rare Ido chawan is glazed in a milky ash, Hagi style glaze and was presumably made at the kiln of the Tenryu-ji temple (Kyoto-yaki) as it bares the seal of the kiln. The clay was made using ground roof tile, a piece brought back from China which is explained in the accompanying paperwork provided with the chawan...
