This is a very fine and extremely rare pipe from Venezuela known as a pipas angulares de barro procedentes. There is only one book written on Aztec pipes. "Pipas Precortesianas" was written by Muriel N. Porter. Porter states that Aztec pipes are extremely scarce and "we can almost say that pipes were unknown." There is a drawing in this book of this class/type of pipe. Of course, tobacco wasn't available until the Spaniards introduced it. Most of the pipes that have been found are typical shapes...

Okay, so this is not the best Scottsbluff you will find, but the price is not $5000 either. Here is a chance to fill a space in your paleo/archaic collection that is made from extremely rare translucent Novaculite. This is what I did when my knife river flint Scottsbluff was stolen. It was found in Cleveland County, Arkansas by Marcus Hayes. It is 1 3/4 " X 7/8" and has been heavily used and resharpened . There is good patination and mineralization. It comes with a Baker COA rating it a 7.5. It ...

This is perhaps the finest pre-Columbian gold collection ever assembled in private hands. These are all incredible masterpieces. Each one is high grade near pure gold. None are tumbaga. All have been authenticated by a forensic laboratory that specializes in pre-Columbian gold. This assemblage has taken me 40 years to acquire. Nothing was imported. All have been purchased from Sotheby's or high-end private collections. Everything is legal to own and sell. I have provenance and receipts for each ...

Overstreet states the Agee points are "the finest, most exquisite arrow point made in the United States". They are both 1 7/8". They are both made from translucent novaculite. They were found near the area of the Crenshaw Site. The name of the finder goes to the purchaser. I purchased both on 8-2-92 from Ray Stanford. Agee points of this quality are never seen on the open market. They are extremely rare and hoarded.

This unique extraordinarily rare maskette is made from translucent polished woolly mammoth bone with tremendous character. It has a carved hairline and incised cheeks. It is also heavily tallied marked on both inside edges. It is heavily patinated making this an extremely desirable piece. This is one of the most fascinating and unique artifacts I have ever seen. The axe is 5 1/2" from top to bottom and the handle is 7". The handle has been broken off in antiquity at the end which is a plus for me because you can see the internal cross section of the wood. The haft is completely fossilized (84% calcium carbonate). The calcification of the wood is such that a species analysis could not be successfully performed on it, but it was determined that it was probably conifer. It was also ...

I have seen and collected many bird celts and axe-gods over the years. This one ranks near the top for the type. The quality of the carving is extraordinary and the jade material is wonderfully colorful. It is 3 5/8" long. It is from the Las Mercedes, Linea Vieja area. The blade is narrowed as well as deeply cut back at the waistline. The eyes are marked by drill pits set in a broad groove. A pair of knobs on the head resemble the local great horned owl. The beak is deeply carved and well define...

This extremely rare incised Eagle effigy Aztec pipe was found by the famous Dr. Allen Hefin in western Mexico on 5/25/63. This piece is flawless in every way except for a tiny nick on the bottom of the stem. The patina is wonderful. It is 7" long and the bowl is 1" wide. This pipe is classified as a Michoacán procedentes and only a handful are known to exist. Three Aztec pipes were sold at Sotheby's auction on March 23rd, 2015 for $12,176. None were near as nice as this one. Pipes are among the...

This is an extremely rare jade picture-plaque that dates to the Late Classic Period around 700 AD. In my 40 years of collecting, I have never seen one for sale. These plaques all belong to one school of carving known as Nebaj-type plaques because the first specimens to be found in situ in the Mayan area come from Cache 14, Mound 2, at Nebaj, Guatemala. All are made of special varieties of jades of Class 3. This type of jade tends to decompose, as in this specimen, which lends to its authenticity...

All of these points are translucent agatized coral found in Florida. I purchased 1, 2 (Bolen), 3 (Hillsborough) and 5 (Hernando) from Tom Davis. i still have his pre-internet catalog which will go to the buyer. He purchased these from one of the oldest and best collections in Florida, John Claytor. Agatized coral is a material highly sought after and prized by collectors and always brings a premium price. Because they are so desirable, they are now being quickly faked. Most of everything on eBa...

This beautiful Olmec maskette is 36mm long and 27mm wide. It is made from transparent high grade flawless quartz with very high energy. It has a very solid hole at the top center making it perfect to add a gold loop for everyday wear as a pendant. It is nicely scooped in the back. There are two things that make this piece extremely rare and desirable. The first is the size. In 40 years of collecting, I have seen only two authentic Olmec maskettes that are this small.
