This finely carved noble lady is a mid or late 19th century product. It is 12” high, 2 ¾” wide and 2 3/8” thick. There is an honorable “Yong Zheng” mark on the bottom. The lady is holding a bunch of lily blossoms in her left hand and a basket of peony blossoms in her right hand. The statue has great patina. Aside from some loss of coloring and a small old repair to a broken tassel on the front of her robe, it is in excellent condition.

This carved reticulate nephrite is 6 ½ inches long, 2 ½ inches wide and a quarter of an inch thick. It has a traditional Chinese motif which includes a dragon, flowers, a vine and characters. The meaning of these four characters is ¡°celebrating happy events and long life¡±. The workmanship is just wonderful. It was carved in two layers which makes it even more interesting. There are a few small chips on the sides. It is in good condition.

This mid 19th century famille-rose ink pan (box) is 2 inches tall and 3 inches in diameter. On the top of the cover depicts two roosters fighting in the flower garden. The side is decorated with a floral design. It is in excellent condition.

This late 19th or early 20th century Chinese jade carving is 6 inches tall, 3 ¼ inches wide and 2 ¼ inches in depth. One side depicts a seated goddess of mercy (Guan Yin) in a cave. Pine trees are growing above the cave. A pagoda covered with clouds appears on a far away mountain. On the other side, we find two old pine trees growing on a mountain. Two sages appear to be chatting; one is in the pagoda, one standing outside. The gated style building sits atop a mountain...

This late 19th century Chinese Famille Rose leaf shape tile is 9 ¾” long, 8 ¼” on the widest part and a quarter of an inch thick. It depicts Emperor Wusu wearing armor and holding his hands in front of his chest. Aside from one small chip on the rim, it is in great condition.

This very well carved ivory statue of a scholar is a late 19th century product. It is 11" high (with hardwood carved base, it is 13" high), 3 1/2" wide and 2 1/2" thick. The image is the well-known Song Dynasty (960AD~1270AD) hermit scholar Lin Pu (林 逋). Li Pu (967AD~1028AD) was born in Hang Zhou City, Zhe Jiang. When he was young he traveled a lot. Later in life, he settled down to live alone under the Gu Mountain near Xi Lake...

These late 19th century Chinese Famille Rose 8 sided ceramic bowls with fitted wood bases are 3 ¾” high (with base is 5 ¾” high) and 8” wide. On the outside of the bowls, there are images of 8 young ladies playing traditional musical instruments. There are floral designs on the inside. There is a red honorific Yung Zheng mark on the bottoms. One bowl has a 2 3/4" long hair line crack inside and a small chip shows on the outside rim. Please see image 4.

This late 19th century reverse glass painting is 13” x 19 ½” (20 ½” x 26 ¾” including frame). It depicts two birds surrounded by a rock garden, peony and plum blossoms. The translation of the calligraphy is: “Seeking refuge to escape the tyranny of the times; seeing those beautiful blossoms, it seems spring has begun the new year.” One of the signature seals on the top reads “Shao Xi;” this is the name of the artist. This late 19th century Chinese white jade (nephrite) dragon head shape buckle is 3 inches long, ¾ inch wide and ¾ inch thick. There are a few small chips and flaw on the side of the body.

This late 19th century Chinese moss green jade pi is 8 inches in diameter and half inch thick. One side is carved with a landscape scene depicting two horses drinking water in a river. The other side is plain. The jade pi fits in a custom made wood stand. It is in excellent condition.

18th or 19th century Chinese yellow glazed and carved porcelain brush washer. Signed by ¡°Wang Bing Rong¡± who is considered one of the best porcelain carvers of that period. His dates are some what confusing. Some record say he was born in 1736 and died in 1795. Other records have him living from 1862 to 1908. This rare and unusual carved bamboo brush holder is dated to the Qing dynasty, Guang Xu 7th year (1881). The bamboo cylinder is carved to represent strung bamboo slips. This 19th century jade (nephrite) carving of PiXiu is 8” long, 3 ¾” high and 3” wide. PiXiu is a Chinese mythical creature who is considered to be a very powerful protector regarding the practice of Feng Shui. Not only it can protect an individual or a family, it will also draw wealth from all directions. PiXiu resembles a winged lion and is the ninth offspring of a dragon. This late 19th century small Famille Rose brush holder is 4 ¼” tall and 2 ¾” in diameter. It depicts a young boy is trying to light fire crackers. An older girl is covering the ears of another frightened boy. The workmanship is simple and elegant. There is a maker’s mark on the bottom which reads “Xin Yuan Xuan made this.” It is in excellent condition.

This rare ivory carving of an empress with her attendant is a late 19th century product. It is 9” high (with a fitted hardwood carved base, it is 10 ½” high), 2 ¾” wide and 2 1/8” deep (both measured from bottom). This image depicts a story told in traditional Chinese opera and classical literature about a beautiful young noble woman, Yang YuHuan (楊 玉 環) who lived from 719 to 756 A. D...

This rectangular grayish jade (nephrite) plaque is 1 ¾” long, 2 3/4” wide and 3/16” thick. It is a late 19th century product. It is carved as a dragon in the center, two flower blossoms and two leaves are on the four corners and a curly pattern swirls around the dragon. Though it is a thin piece, it was carved very skillfully and carefully into a two layered object. Aside from a tiny chip on one side, it is in great condition.
