An ancient Egyptian alabaster plumb-bob with suspension holes on the sides and on top. New Kingdom, 1570-1070 BC. 1 5/8 inches high. From an old NYC scholarly collection. A plumb bob is a weight, with a pointed tip on the bottom, suspended from a string and used as a vertical direction as a reference point. Plumb bobs were appreciated for their ability to furnish a true vertical line. The ancient Egyptians used plumb tools for leveling and as a way to continue distances vertically...

Salmon-colored "Plastic" head of a feline, with defined eyes, alert ears, whiskers and feline expression. Vent hole on back. 2 5/8 inches high. 6th Century BC. Originally acquired from Royal Athena gallery, ex. Dr. Jean Laufenburger, Geneva. ‘Plastic vases’ are vessels made in figural shapes, including animal figures. Their name derives from the Greek verb plassein meaning ‘to mould’...

Chief god of the underworld. Depicted mummiform, he is wearing the atef crown, fronted with an ureas, wearing the false beard and with hands emerging from tightly fitting garment and grasping the crook and flail. 26th Dynasty 672-525 B.C. 4 3/8 inches high. From a Maryland estate.

Ancient Egyptian blue faience scarab ensemble. Comprising of the beetle scarab in the center, flanked by the faïence wings. Late Period, 600-400 B.C. Scarab measures 2 inches long X 1 1/4-inch wide, left-wing measures 2 inches wide, right-wing measures 1 3/4 inches wide with small chip on tip. Scarab and wings not part of an original set. An ancient Egyptian faience shabti for Psamtik. Standing on an integral plinth against an inscribed back pillar, with prominent facial details, depicted mummiform with the arms crossing his chest, his hands emerging from his tightly fitting garment, holding hoes, a seed sack over his left shoulder, wearing a tripartite headcloth and a braided beard. 4 inches high. Repaired. Purchased on the Belgian art market. Said to be from an old German collection.

Depicting a figure seated on his haunches, his legs spread apart, his testicles indicated toward the right to accommodate his enormous phallus which rises up the left side of his body and rests on the top of his head, his left hand supporting his phallus. 1 3/4 inches high. An ancient Roman marble hand, with defined fingers and fingernails. Hand grasping, what appears to be remains of a dagger. With extensive remains of encrustations. 1st-3rd century AD. From a NYC private collection. Said to be purchased on the London art market in the late 1990s. 3 1/2 inches wide X 4 1/4 inches high. Mounted.

An Egypto-Roman figure of Harpocrates on horseback. Represented as a plump child, wearing the sidelock of hair and the double-crown of Egypt on his head and with his forefinger on his lips. Roman Period about A.D. 100. 5 5/8th inches high. From a New Jersey estate.

Ancient Egyptian Bronze Double-Ureas. Depicts two cobras, each with a broadened hood and shows the details of each of the snake’s body. 1 1/4 inches high. Possibly a decoration of a large bronze Osiris. Late Period, 25th-26th Dynasty, 745-525 B.C. Ex. RDA private collection, acquired in NY art market in the early 1980s.

A bronze Atef crown's feather. Ram's horn on bottom upon which a rearing ureas cobra is perched, with gaps probably originally containing inlays, crowned with the solar disc; the cobra flanks a large, curling ostrich plume with multiple horizontal incised lines. Height: 3-1/2" , not including base. Late Dynastic Period, ca 700 to 330 B.C.

Serpentine Horus falcon, with defined wings, beak and tail feathers. Late Period, 600-30 B.C. 1 1/4 inches high X 1 1/8 inches long. Intact. From an old French collection.

An ancient Egyptian steatite scarab with the royal prenomen name Men-kheper-Re (Thutmosis III); including an adjective or descriptive phrase stating the good god + Amun (very schematic). 3/4 inch. 18th dynasty, 1479 BC to 1425 BC. From a Florida estate. Said to be purchased in the early 1980s.

North African, Terra Sigillata red-slip oil lamp, depicting a running lion surrounded by a swirling floral pattern. 2nd/3rd Century AD. 5 1/2 inches long X 3 inches wide. Repaired. Ex. old Belgian collection of Felix Lauwers, acquired 1970s-early 1980s.

An ancient Roman bronze leg from a large bronze vessel, depicting a feline, with short mane, mouth agape and with ferocious expression. 1 5/8 inches high. Purchased on the New York art market. Said to be from an old Dutch collection.

Ancient Roman vessel attachment, depicting a finely detailed figure of a lady, wearing an elaborate headdress, the shape of her breast protruding from her well-defined garment and her right hand playing the well-defined lyre. 1st/3rd Century AD. From a NYC private collection.

Fragmentary figure of Serapis. With thick wavy hair and thick beard. 2nd/3rd Century A.D. 3 inches high. Mounted. Old Belgian collection. Serapis was an Egyptian god whose devotees united the worship of the Apis bull and the god Osiris. His cult, which originated at Memphis, rose to its greatest significance at Alexandria during the reign of Ptolemy I.
