An alloy metal Buddha sitting under a bodhi tree.This is where Buddha gained his great Enlightenment by sitting in concentrated meditation beneath the bodhi tree at Bodh Gaya in Bihar,India. Can be made into an amulet. Size: H. 6.3cm. W. 3.3cm. Condition: No repairs.

rare light translucent green glaze vase with four geckos as handles complete with original lid. Size: H. w/Lid. 28cm. W. 17cm. Condition: One gecko original body has been re-attached on and inside of the lid a small piece has been re-attached. Overall very good condition.See photos.

A rare and very 18th century large scholar's standing screen. The front of the screen is painted red with a gilded mountain scene. The back is painted black with the remains of a good luck symbol. A very unusual huanghuali scholar's container made of one solid piece of wood. There is no plug at the base. These types of designs are very desirable for collectors of huanghuali pieces. It probably had a lid. Age: 18th century. Size: H. 7cm. W. 11.7cm. Condition. No repairs. Some old minor chips on the rims.

Two Tibetan bone carvings of dancing Dakinis from a ceremonial bone apron. One Dakini carries a chopper, kapala (skull cup) and a skull scepter; the other holds a kapala in her left hand. Both have large scrolling swirls carved above and below them. The backs have numerous holes for stringing. The bone is probably from a Yak. Period: 18th/19th Century. Size: 16cm & 17cm. W. Both 4cm. Condition: No repairs. cracks or chips.

Two blue glass earrings from Cambodia most likely a pair. Size: Width. 2.5cm and 2.4cm. Condition: Some incrustation from being buried so long. Age: 300 to 100 BC.

A nice well made Tibetan prayer beads consisting of 108 bone beads and three pink mountain coral. Two leather counters with ten silver rings each ending with silver inlaid with coral and turquoise. The bone is most likely yak but could also be human. Size:Total length of the necklace 52cm. Each bead is 1.2-1.3 cm in diameter. Condition: No repairs. All original.

A brass four prong dorje from Tibet. The primary symbol and ritual implement used in Tantric Buddhism, also know as a vajra. It can be translated as "diamond" or "thunderbolt". Age: Pre 1920. Size: L. 12cm. W. 4.3cm. Condition: Perfect.

A nice Tibetan 108 wooden prayer beads with two leather counters from Lhasa. The wooden beads are made from the wood of the Bodhi tree where Buddha received his enlightenment. Size: Total length 44cm. Bead diameter. 1.2cm. Condition: All original.

A necklace of 26 large Tibetan turquoise beads ranging in color from delicate greenish-blue hues to a vibrant turquoise blue separated by silver rings. Each bead has its own attractive matrix and nice patina from years of wearing. The necklace was bought together with the two glass dZi beads and two red coral beads in Lhasa, Tibet. It was restrung again recently to give it strength.

A beautiful nineteen century woven temple carpet with nice design. The center pattern features 3 large multi-colored abstract florals against a black background that is surrounded by a blue & white keyfret design frame. The center florals include stylized lingzhi fungus combined in the design. The outer edge features abstract cloud and water patterns. These designs symbolize longevity, fertility and good luck. Size: L.163cm. W. 85cm. (5.4ft X 2.19ft) Condition: no repairs.

Rare dagger from Tibet. The bronze phurbu features a crowned Buddha. The blade part features a the head of a makara (marine monster). Period: 12th century to 15th century.Size: 13cm. Condition: very good. Check "Arts of Asia" May-June 1989 issue.

Mala Prayer beads from Lhasa with silver counters. I am not sure what the beads are made from but they are from Lhasa Tibet purchased over 15 years ago. Size: 50cm X 2.

A complete old Tibetan ladies purse made of Yak leather and inlaid with silver and gilt carvings with a center piece of Turquoise. The front has carvings of two fish (representing the beginning of life)and flower design. The back has a center tree design. There is a silver woven chain attached to the top for carrying. A lacquered wood manuscript cover with the rectangular panel carved with scrolling foliate tendrils with a carved vase in the center. Age: 18th Century. Size: L. 37cm. H.14cm. Condition: Normal ageing with and old chip on the left edge and age crack on the right side.

A 17th century dorje (thunderbolt of enlightenment) Buddhist ritual object of a dark color with some green encrustation. Some dorjes at that time were made from meteorites found in the Himalayas. This particular dorje is quite heavy and there is a possibility that it may be made from a meteorite but we have not had it tested...

A seated figure covering his eyes with both hands used in Tantric Buddhism believed to provide supernatural powers. This one is made of clay and has tracings of gold leaf. It is incased in a stainless steel case. Size: Outside the case. H.2.2cm. W. 2cm.

A beautiful and rare glass stupa from the Pyu area.Most of the glass has turned into a beautiful iridescent color which gives a wonderful feeling to this piece. The stupa is unusual as it has a hollow opening in the center. Age: 100 AD. Size: H. 1.9cm. W. At the base. 1.9cm. Condition: A small piece is missing at the base and because it is iridescent at the part also it probably was made that way.

One hundred herbs prayer bead bracelet from the boarder town between China and Tibet. These type of prayer bead is believed to be good for curing all types of sickness. The beads are made by compressing 100 herbs into a ball. There are 18 beads in all. Age: Pre 1920. Size: inside radius 7cm. It is stringed with a new stretch string to fit all. Condition: Very good for its age.

A set of seven (7) miniature paintings on canvas of winged Tibetan protector deities and gods surrounded by flames including Vajrapani and Yama Dharma Raja. Four (4) of the miniatures are finely executed line drawings with color washes on a light-weight canvas. These four appear to have been done by the same artist and are of approximately the same size. The other three are painted on a heavier canvas - two of which are painted in full with darker pigments...

Vajrapāni (Sanskrit: "Vajra in [his] hand") is one of the earliest-appearing bodhisattvas in Mahayana Buddhism. A very rare Song stone carved mirror holder in the shape of a mythical ox called n Xiniu. The ox has his head turned upward and is looking at the moon which is represented by the bronze mirror above and the stone carvings represent the clouds. It is very unusual to find this type in stone mirror holder as the few I have seen have been in gilded bronze. Size: H. 19.5cm. W. 15.5cm. D. 8.2cm. Condition: No repairs or chips. An extremely rare pair of original 18th century elm wood lacquered folding chairs. All the parts are original including the original lacquer. Only replacements were the hardware in the folding joints as the originals had rusted out. The back panel has an open- work floral design with a cloud design on the upper and lower panels. Two unusual well carved huanghuali stands. They are almost a pair, but one is slightly larger than the other. Age: Late Ming or early Qing. Size: #1. Diameter 10cm. H. 3.5cm. #2. Diameter 9.5cm. H. 3cm. Condition: No repairs.

A unique piece of zitan wood used as a sample for the scholar's woodworker. This piece is unusual as it shows a very light color of the zitan wood which is probably close to the bark area. There are two holes drilled in the piece for attaching a string for hanging. This piece weighs 550 grams. This is a great item for the zitan collector. Size: L.17.3cm. W.10.3cm. H.2.4cm. A rare wooden Buddha in a seated position on a lotus pedestal. The face is serenely contemplative and the robe is carved to show the gathered folds. Wooden Buddhas from this period are very difficult to find. This Buddha has a natural, calming presence.

A magnificent red and white Beijing glass vase . Basic vase is white glass with an overlay of red glass that has ben carved to expose the white vase. Scenes of scholars, merchants, painter, bridge, birds and mountain scenes. Qianlong mark at the bottom. Age: Pre 1920. Size: H.27,6cm.

A very rare and unusual root brush pot that is highly prized by the Qing Scholars. This is a very special type of root know in Chinese as "JinJinan" The pot has all the natural openings from the root. Age: Qing, early 18 century. Size: H. 29.3 cm. Diameter at the base. 19cm. A very rare Chinese Nanmu scholar's table chest. Nanmu wood has been used in China since the Han dynasty and is very prized by collectors as it is difficult to find. I feel that it is rarer than huanghuali. I have only come across one Nanmu scholar's chest in all the years that I have been collecting. Size: L.34cm. W.17cm. H.6cm. Age: Mid Qing or earlier. A rare carved jade of an old man with a beard. Half of the jade on top is translucent and the bottom bottom half opaque. It is from the Hunan culture which was absorbed by the Han as their control spread over the whole of China. Size: H. 3.8cm. W. 1.3cm. See last three photos.

A rare unusual bronze mirror with two mythical animals that might be tigers. Age: Western Jin Dynasty - 265 - 316 AD. Size: Diameter - 9cm. Condition: No repairs. Natural aging with nice patina.

A very rare and beautifully carved blackwood table. The carvings represent good luck symbols with key fret designs,lingzhi fungus, floral, tendril, and coins. The front and the back are a mirror images of each other, and the two sides also have mirror image carvings on both ends. The legs are straight and not curved as seen in the wide angle photo. A very rare gilt figure of Buddha with hands in the earth-touching gesture. The facial features are characteristic of Burmese Buddhas of the time with very large ears and nose.

A rare crystal ring from the Pyu dynasty carved with a fish,the sea and a crescent moon. The fish is a early Buddhist symbol for incarnation carried over from Hinduism. A full necklace of a mixture of cylinder, annular, tubular and truncated ellipsoid carnelian beads. There are also two "bullet" beads. This is a complete necklace - not random pieces put together. This is an original old Chinese poster of two women (actually men disguised as women) advertising cigarettes. Very early poster women were not allowed to pose for these posters. A very unusual and rare Ming pair of lacquered scholar's partition screens on huanghuali stands.

Against a black lacquer background, each screen features scholar's objects in brown lacquer and mother-of-pearl with accents of gold. They are bordered with a band of leaf patterns done in gold and inlaid mother of pearl. The backs of the screens each have a gold leaf-patterned border while their centers have linear gold paintings of butterflies, plum blossoms and tiny chrysanthemums.
