 $650.00

Artistic and modern Raku Chawan by one of the best potters of Japan, Yasuo Terada 寺田康雄. It comes with the originally signed and sealed wooden box and with a profile of the artist.

Yasuo Terada was born in 1948 in Seto City, Japan.

He graduated from Tama Art University with a major in sculpture. He has toured countries around the world, working and exploring for inspiration.

His works have been exhibited in sculpture exhibitions in the Aichi Prefecture Art Museum, as well as in the New Representational Sculpture Exhibition in the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum.

Yasuo Terada won the Asahi Ceramics Exhibition Grand Prix and has been selected for the Modern Craft Exhibition and other prestigious awards. He has held solo exhibitions in Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi and Nagoya Matsuzakaya. He has also been a lecturer in the Aichi University of Education since 1977.

His works are highly sought after by collectors and are becoming increasingly expensive. For example, a simple Oribe Chawan is currently offered at the Stratford Gallery for 1240 $ ( https://www.thestratfordgallery.co.uk/artists/yasuo-terada/oribe-chawan-noborigama-fired/34389 ).

Perfect condition. No chips or cracks. There is an original natural pottery surface wrinkle around the rim, which occurred in the time of manufacturing (Not a fault. Please refer to the last picture to check it).

Size: 8,6-10,5 cm high (maximum) and 11-11,5 cm in diameter.
