By noted South African artist, Otto Klar (born in Austria, 1908-1994), this drawing depicts a group of huts, some figures, and hills in the background. In a simple wood frame, it measures 10 3/4" by 12 5/8" (sight size 6" by 8"), and is inscribed on the back, "Christmas South Africa, 1977, Gift from Otto Klar, Dec 2nd". In pencil, on buff colored paper, frame and double matting are clearly original, and the drawing appears to be in excellent condition...

The artist is Marise London, a Florida artist from Sarasota who had an art gallery there from the late 1970's til it closed in 2006. The original painting of this scene is in the permanent collection of the Whitney Museum. The original shows a reverse scene.
