Guest Book

This is a pretty and unique necklace, a book chain linked to a beautiful Art Nouveau locket by two large spring rings. One fastens the locket to four book chain links, the second links thems to the chain proper. The spring rings make it possible to separate the elements and reassemble the piece in a different order, or with other element. The 16" chain is made up of rectangular (5/16" by 3/16") ‘books’ imprinted on both sides with the same design of two squares. The front of the repoussé locket has a design of a lovely iris with leaves around raised oval and is accented with 14 colorless round brilliants. The locket is 1 1/8" in diameter and is complete with interior rings to hold pictures and picture covers. The back of the locket has ornate script initials MB. There is an unidentified makers mark inside, a triangle with the initials C & Q R. Both locket and chain are gold fill and date from the late 1890s.
