An unusually large size bronze rain drum from Laos, a Herger type three drum. Reference material “The Karen Bronze drum of Burma” by Richard M. Cooler. It has an unusual 3 frogs (twelve altogether) on top with a ten pointed star with continuing concentric circle and stamped designs. The side has three elephants and three snails representing water and fertility. A globular flared body rises with four attached frog design handles.

Antique Japanese sculpture of a hawk coming to rest on top of a gnarled rock. Wings spread wide, the hawk grips the rock with it's talons. Each feather is intricately carved.

A Japanese cast bronze Okimono of an octopus moving across the sea floor. Its eight legs and large head depicts this true-to-life mollusc in motion. The two large eyes constantly observe its surroundings ready to shoot its ink at any predator.

An antique Japanese bronze vase called Kabin designed with a 3 claw dragon hugging the shoulder and neck. The lower part of the vase is surrounded by waves of water. Standing on 4 legs each portrayed and protected by a mythical beast. Fine metal detailing to the head and body of the dragon.

Antique Japanese pair of bronze warrior attendant figures. Dressed in Chinese armor and holding tall poles. Their tight curls suggest the mains of fu-dogs. Made of bronze with mixed metal details. The figures stand on square, footed platforms. Intricately sculpted with great movement and expression.

Antique Indian bronze sculpture of the elephant headed Hindu god Ganesha, known as the Remover of Obstacles. He stands in dance position, a crown on his head and garland of flowers around his shoulders. In four hands he holds his attributes including his goad or ax (cut off all bonds of attachment), a bowl of sweets (the whole world is at your feet and for your asking) and the end of his broken tusk (keep the good, throw away the bad). His eyes are of inlaid silver.

Antique Tibetan gilt bronze figure of the Bodhisattava, Avalokiteshvara. The Luminous Lord of Infinite Compassion sits in padmasana position with his hands held in front of his chest in the complex dharmachakra mudra. Also called the teaching mudra and "spinning the wheel of the Law", dharmachakra relates the Buddha's teaching in the forest of Sarnath. Pair of antique Tibetan snow lions. Made of gilded bronze with polychrome details. Wild, open mouthed expressions and paws over heads. These lions were once part of a Buddhist display. Snow lions are thought to be the king of beasts to the Tibetan people. They personify joy and bliss and represent the hermits and yogis that live in the Himalayas. It is believed that the milk of the snow lioness is the essence of the Dharma.
