Chinese porcelain vase decorated with scrolling strings, peaches, and bats. In some areas, the vase contains the stylized character for happiness. The bottom of the vase contains an inscription reading: Guang Xu Nian Xing. Age: 19th-20th century. Size: diameter 9.5" height 13.5"

A set of three carvings of three different types of birds. One appears to be a falcon and another a magpie like species. Each bird has been carefully carved and painted making birds to look alive. Age: 20th century. Size: length 3.75" width 1.6" height 2.25"

Jade carving of a bat spreading its wings on one side and on another side a coin shaped motif. Bats are considered to be an auspicious animal where the name is synonymous to fortune in Chinese. The coin contains a four character engraving possibly reading: Fu Shou Quan Shuang, or roughly translated as having both fortune and longevity. An archaic style Chinese jade object in the style of Han burial Jade objects. Top contains a motif of mythical beasts and the center section is incised with scrolling vines with a circular hole carved out in the center.The clear line seen below the beasts is a plastic wire to attach the jade piece on the black felt panel. A mille fleur porcelain dish decorated with various types of flora. Extreme care and detail is given to each flower and fruit painted on the dish. The dish contains an inscription on the bottom reading: Jiaqing Nianxing. Age: Late 19th century. Size: height 2.5" diameter 9.3"

Antique Chinese Jade belt hook carved in the form of a duck or a goose. The artist who carved the jade piece utilized the dark inclusions to carve the bill and feet. Age: Song Dynasty Size: height 0.75" width 0.9" length 2.1"

An antique Chinese Beijing or Peking Glass belt hook. The belt hook contains motifs of Chinese lions and a mystical beast standing on top of the hook. The unique aspect of this piece is where the glass color is emulating white jade. Age: 18th century. Size: height 1.25" width 1.1" length 5.5"

Beautiful Chinese bench, carved all of hardwood with inset areas of dramatic burl, rectangular marble in center of back, arms and back carved with scrolling key fret motif, elegantly curved legs, Republic Period. Beautiful Chinese antique carved jade belt hook, two pieces fit perfectly together with a hook in the form of a chimera's head, each piece is highly carved with chimeras twisting through clouds, each creature is perfectly rendered in three dimensions with pierced details, the jade is a beautiful pale green, 18th/19th century. Total size when fastened: 3 3/4" wide

Superbly and detailed antique agate carving in the form of a gourd with leaves, smaller gourds, and a bat. In East Asia the gourd is considered an auspicious plant and in China the bat is synonymous to the word fortune in Chinese. Hence, the motif is often seen in various works of art.
